KENNEDY, Deacon William - age 72, passed away, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday February 25, 2017 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 113-123 Wessen St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Terrance J. Gowdy, Eulogist. Dr. John D. Tolbert, Host Pastor. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Deacon Kennedy will lie in state at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 512 Pearsall Avenue, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Deacon William Kennedy passed away suddenly February 18, 2017. He was born to Deacon JW and Mother Mary Lee Kennedy March, 15, 1944 in Livingston Alabama. He was the 3rd of 10 to this union. After graduating from Sumter County Training School he moved to Michigan and shortly thereafter began barber school and his 43 year career at General Motors. In 1966 he married Donna Moss and together they shared 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In 1972 he opened Kennedy's Beauty and Barbershop, his greatest love outside of God, his family and Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he has proudly served as a Senior Deacon. Deacon Kennedy was a pillar in the community who was always kind, always encouraging and always had a word to share about the Lord. Deacon Kennedy leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Kimberly "Kym" Kennedy of Dallas, TX; son, William G. (Kia) Kennedy of Rio Rancho, NM; two granddaughters, Atira and Sidni; three grandsons, Taylor, William "E-Man" and Isaiah Kennedy; siblings, Mae Rose Kennedy-Crawford of Pontiac, MI, Ann (Richard) Moore of Brockton, MA, Dorothy Jean (Herbert) Neeley of Auburn Hills, MI, L. Pearl (Daryl) Thomas of Farmington, Hills, MI, Gloria Ann Kennedy, Samuel (Sheila) Kennedy of Lawrenceville, GA; and Frank L Kennedy of Pontiac, MI; sisters-in-law, Emelia Kennedy of Frisco City, AL and Ester Kennedy of Auburn Hills, MI; brother-in-law, Obie Robinson of Birmingham, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Deacon Kennedy was preceded in death most recently his son, Aaron Kennedy; parents, Deacon JW and Mother Mary Lee Kennedy; sister, Annie Kate Robinson; brothers, James Earl Kennedy, John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.
