WILLIAMS, Mrs. Emma Lee - Age 67, passed Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at University of Michigan Hospital Ann Arbor. Family hour 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 from New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 174 Branch Street., with funeral service commencing immediately at 12p.m.Pastor Keyon S. Payton, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1-8p.m. Friday. Mrs. Emma Lee Williams, was born July 7, 1940, in Pollicksville, North Carolina the daughter of the late Elmer Davis and Lacy Cox Davis. She departed this life January 16, 2008 at University Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At an early age Emma joined Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pollocksville, North Carolina. At the age of 18, she married Alexander Williams, Jr. a Corporal for the United States Marines. Later moving to New York in which two children were born Anthony and Sonya Williams. Being a devoted housewife was a full time job. She later moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1968, with her husband where one more child of God was born, Tonya Williams. Emma enjoyed going shopping at Wal-Mart her favorite store and loved trying to sing Al Green songs. We knew never to call her when her man Chauncey Billups of the Detroit Pistons were playing on TV. Emma being very outspoken she could be a challenge to some unfortunate souls, but usually was a loving and caring person. Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Alexander Williams, Jr.; two daughters, Sonya Maria Williams and Tonya Yvette Williams; son, Anthony (Linda) Williams of all Pontiac, two grandchildren, Amber ReNee Garrett and Jamar Dontae Williams both of Pontiac; eight sisters, Betty Moore, of New Bern, NC, Pattie Staten of Waterford, MI, Vertia Davis of Orion, MI, Evelyn Davis of Pollicksville, NC, Gloria (John) Beard, Lansdowne, PA, Gale (George) Hargett, Pollocksville, NC, Sharon (Andre) Ingram, Trenton, NC, Deborah Sanders of New Bern, NC; four brothers, R. L.(Gwendolyn) Davis of Orion, MI, Cleaver (Susan) Davis of Waterford, MI, Larry Davis, Pollocksville, NC, Ken Davis of Bronx, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Davis and Lacy Cox Davis; one sister, Ada Bell Davis-Weatherspoon; and one brother, James Earl Davis.
