FORD, Mr. Sammie Lee - age 72, passed away, Monday, August 10, 2015 at McLaren Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:00AM Monday August 17, 2015 at Pontiac Southside Seventh Day Adventist Church, 182 S. Sanford St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM. Pastor Walace St. Louis, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00AM Monday. Mr. Ford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 11AM-5PM Sunday. Mr. Sammie Lee Ford was born September 5, 1942 in Hickory, Mississippi, the son of Rufus and Opal Ford. He was a resident of Pontiac since 1966. He married Virgia Camphor in 1968. Sammie was employed by General Motors Corporation for forty two years before retiring. He was a member of the Pontiac Southside Seventh Day Adventist Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Choir Member. Sammie was a gentle man; he also had a forgiving heart and loved his family. His word was “Love Everybody.” Sammie enjoyed watching sports, old westerns and comedies. He enjoyed life and wanted everyone to get along and be happy. Mr. Ford leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Virgia J. Ford of Pontiac, MI; children, Antionette (Lynn) Davis of Southfield, MI and David Ford of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Antoine Davis and Aaron Davis both of Southfield, MI; siblings, Earnestine Ford-Lattimore, Rubia Ford, Dorothy (Bobby) Chapman, Lynda (James) Tillman, Marion Wheaton, Daphne Ford, Otha D. (LaSharonee) Ford, Oliver James Ford, Billy (Melody) Ford, Larry (Doris) Ford, James Edward (Barbara) Ford, Larry (Doris) Williamson; mother-in-law, Willie Pearl Camphor; sisters-in-law, Bertha Sledge, Bobbie Edwards, Betty Cousins, Shirley Camphor, Dorothy Hunter, Earnestine Camphor, Mary Jennifer Camphor; brother-in-law, Claude Camphor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Lawrence Ford; parents, Rufus and Opal Ford; grandparents, Dave and Caroline Ford; father-in-law, Eugene Camphor.
