WILLIAMS, Ms. Alethia "Al Green" - age 58, passed away, Friday, January 6, 2017 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, January 16, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Sheldon Mathews, Officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Ms. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Alethia “Al Green” Williams was born on July 10, 1958 in Savannah, Georgia to Leroy Williams II and Wilhelmena Smalls. She was educated in the Savannah Public School System and worked hard as a Domestic Engineer to provide for her five children. Despite having a rough life, she tried so hard to overcome all obstacles placed in her path and made us extremely proud of her. She would give anyone anything she had if they needed it, even when she was sick. She loved to cook, listen to music and dance. The true life of the party, she made everyone’s life better. She had a unique bond with each of her relatives and to prove it, she blessed us all with special nicknames. Al was a fighter and survivor. No matter what life threw at her, she always got back up with a smile on her face! Even at the height of her sickness, she would still ask how YOU were doing. She will truly be missed. Al leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Donte (Tia) Williams of Flint, MI, Ahmed Williams, Donna Williams, Markita Williams and Shalethia Williams all of Pontiac, MI; special son, Teddy Alexander; seventeen grandchildren, Eyania Amerson, Ahmed Williams Jr., Chavez Williams, Malachi Douglass, Roman Henderson, Harmony Williams, Kingston Williams, Eriq Washington Jr., Davon Williams, Jaliyah McKnight, Ameer Williams, Chasity Williams, Justice McKnight, Jersey Coates, Armani Williams, Emoni Washington, Omari Williams; great granddaughter, Brooklynn Amerson; siblings, Pamela (Allen) Williams, Anetria Williams-Hardy of Pontiac, MI, Leroy Williams III, Shaleen (Alfonso) Hamilton, Beverly Williams and Leroy Williams IV all of Savannah, GA; two special aunts, Mary Miller and Rosa Gadson and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Al was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelmena Watson and Leroy Williams, I; grandmother, Margaret Small; special friends, Clarence Herron and Odell; and best friend, Karen M. "Kay Kay" Bard.
