ALLEN, Mr. Andre’ Samson-Jean "Big Dre" – age 66, passed away, Friday, October 27, 2023 at DMC - Harper University Hospital. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, November 10, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 North Perry Street, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00 AM. Pastor Andrew Jenkins, Officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, 216 University Drive. Friends and Pallbearers will assemble 10:00 AM at the funeral home Friday. Mr. Allen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed between the hours of 12:00PM - 6:00PM Thursday. Andre’ Allen was born to parents, David and Maria Allen on June 8, 1957. Andre’ was called home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2023. A proud graduate of Pontiac Central High School and a member of the marching band. Andre’ developed a love for jazz and classical music. Andre’ mastered the saxophone and traveled throughout the United States performing with jazz and R & B bands. In 1976, Andre’ met and fell in love with Shelley Lee Shaw. Together they delivered to the world twin sons, David and Andre, one daughter, Shuquna and another son, Dayvon. Andre’ was a provider for his family, working numerous jobs before settling down with General Motors (GM). After 37 years of employment as a skilled tradesman, Andre’ retired from GM. Throughout his life, Andre’ had a love for cars; especially Cadillac’s and Lincoln’s. At the time of his death, Andre’ had a collection of classic vehicles. He also took pride in polishing and shining his vehicles. Andre’ was well known for the Armor All shine on his cars. Mr. Allen leaves to cherish his memory children, Shuquna F. Shaw-Allen and Dayvon M. Shaw-Allen; twenty-five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Sydney Allen, Christopher Bancroft, Richard Armstrong; sister-in-law, Miyoshi Shaw; brother-in-law, Sean Shaw; aunt, Norma Griswold; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by sons, David Shaw-Allen and Andre Shaw-Allen; parents, Maria and David Vincent Allen, Sr; brother, David Allen; common law wife, Shelley Lee Shaw; mother and father-in-law, Issiah Shaw and Francessca Johnson-Shaw.
