RAND, Mr. Arthur James "PJ". - Age 71, passed away Saturday May 21, 2016 at his residence. Family Hour 10:00AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 174 Branch St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Rev. Keyon S. Payton, M. Div, Senior Pastor. Interment Perry Moun Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mr. Rand will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Arthur James Rand, “PJ” was born on March 3, 1945, and went home to be with the Lord on May 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Susie and Eddie Rand; step-mother, Paraco Rand; sister, Mattie Cross; brother, Walter Rand; and brother-in-law, Thomas Murphy. Mr. Rand was born to the union of Susie and Eddie Rand in Stafford, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Christian Life Baptist Church in Stafford. After graduating from Keith High School he moved to Pontiac, Michigan, and soon began working for General Motors Truck and Bus. He worked at General Motors for 40.5 years until his retirement. Mr. Rand was an avid bowler and played until he was no longer able. He not only cared for his children and family members, but also displayed acts of service to his neighbors and friends. Mr. Rand leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Verna “Dean” Rand; beloved children, Shawana (Derrick) Love, Corey Rand, and step-son, Dustin (Collett) McClellan. His cherished grandchildren: Tonya, Anthony, Tawana, Antonio and Kyrie. His devoted siblings: Autrie Nealy of Rockville Center, New York; Eddie Mae (Robert) Duson of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Annie Murphy, John Phillips and sister-in-law, Betty Rand all of Pontiac, Michigan; Katie Terrell of Jaleen, Texas and Jacqueline Jackson of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Rand is also survived by mother-in-law, Juanita Chism, his wife’s siblings and their spouses, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Special thanks to Reverend Samuel Thomas (Brother Roe) of Montgomery, Alabama, for his prayers, care and support for his long-time friend.
