JEFFERSON, Mrs. Bobbie Jean - age 77, passed away, Friday, December 4, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday December 12, 2015 at New Mount Moriah International Church, 313 East Walton Boulevard, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Elder Courtney Drew, Eulogist. Bishop William H. Murphy, Jr., Host Pastor. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM. Mrs. Jefferson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1:00PM-8:00PM Friday. Mrs. Bobbie Jean Jefferson was born November 9, 1938 in Leake County, Mississippi, the daughter of Joe and Pauline McDonald. Bobbie Jean Jefferson moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1964. She became a member of Johnson Memorial Church of God In Christ in 1965. Bobbie was member of the Choir, Usher Board, and the President of the Prayer Warriors. On February 18, 1959 she married the love of her life, Russell Jefferson and they remained married for fifty-six years. She was employed as a custodian for the Oakland County Government, a job in which she retired from after twenty-five years of dedicated service. Bobbie was an awesome cook, she loved to sing (always ready to lead a solo) her favorite song was “Still Away, Still away Lord”, pray, and just being nice to people. She enjoyed being around everyone, and everyone loved her. Bobbie also enjoyed walking around Wisner Stadium and the Summit Place Mall. She especially loved to worship and be at her church. She took a pleasure in being around her Pastor’s and helping her church as much as possible. Bobbie would travel faithfully with her husband to the church’s Holy Convocation in Memphis, Tennessee, Saint Louis, Missouri and Oklahoma, serving the Lord together was their joy. No matter whose child you were she took you in and loved you as her own. Bobbie Jean loved to be a help to others, and was a very family oriented woman. She took pride in knowing everyone ate well when she cooked. She will be truly missed by everyone. Her son’s truly loved her. She was the apple of their eye. They loved her with everything in them. Her great grandkids had a special kind of love for her, that could never be broken. When you’re married for fifty-six years it’s an unexplainable type of love. They had a TRUE LOVE that was just an inspiration to watch them around each other. Bobbie had a gift about her that changed everyone’s mood in a good way, when she entered the room. Mrs. Jefferson leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Russell Jefferson; step daughter, Shirley (Danny) Wells; sons, Tony (Kim), Michael (Wendy) and Travis Jefferson; grandchildren, Elmeisha, Jermaine (Eisha) and Tony Branner all of Pontiac, MI; Anthony Woods of Detroit, MI; Kiara Taylor Myra Williamson of Pontiac, MI, Jason Sneddon of Clinton Township, MI, Antonio, Raquel and Ashton Jefferson all of Pontiac, MI, Sherrie and Jessica Vivian both of Mobile, AL; great grandchildren, Ajah Williams, Tevin Newcomb, Zaire Branner, Treyvon Taylor, Jaylen and Jala Branner, Jayla Sneddon, Prince, Harp and Destinee Mathis, Micah O’Neal, Jaya, Jordis and Jack Vivian; two brothers, Luther Gill of Chicago, IL, Jervis (Janet) McDonald Sr.; sisters-in-law, Mathelean “Bo” Johns, Martha Johns, Ann McKnight, and Susie Green; uncle, R.H. “Buck” Hoye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including special friend, Jennifer Hardy; and a host of goddaughters. Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Pauline McDonald; two sisters, Berdie Ruth Gibson and Majorie Kidd; two brothers, Lester (Priney) Gill and Lonnie McDonald; two sisters-in-law, Natlee John and Ruth Gill; brothers-in-law, Robert and Lee Jefferson. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Courtney Drew and the entire Johnson Memorial Church of God In Christ Church family, Bishop William H. Murphy Jr. and New Mt. Moriah International Church and the neighborhood family.
