KYLES, Mrs. Carol Ann - age 67, passed away, Monday, May 28, 2018. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday June 6, 2018 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 512 Pearsall Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Terrance J. Gowdy, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Wednesday. Mrs. Kyles will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1-8PM Tuesday. The family will be present from 6-8:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Carol Ann Kyles was born May 3, 1951 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Richard and Beatrice Davenport. Carol accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the then Pastoral Leadership of the Rev. Dr. Amos G. Johnson. She served in the SunBeam Choir, Adult Choir, Youth Department and Sunday school, as well as attending the National Baptist Congress and all Sunday School Congresses with Rev. James and Verna Eggleston. She was also active in the Liturgical Arts Ministry. Carol attended Pontiac Schools and graduated in 1969. After high school, Carol furthered her education and attended Oakland Christian College (Rochester College) and Court Reporting School. Carol worked many years and later retired from the City of Pontiac. Upon retirement, she reentered the workforce and worked for a number of years at Oakland Family Services and lastly with Trinity Health Systems. Carol’s hobbies consisted of shopping at her favorite stores of Macy’s and JC Penny’s, sewing clothes for her children, crocheting, playing “Words with friends”, and enjoying the company of her family. Carol was an avid bowler bowling in various leagues before her health began to decline. It was through her love for bowling that she met and married the love of her life James B. Kyles and to this union was born one child, Bre’Ana Kyles. Carol entered into eternal rest on Monday May 28, 2018. Carol leaves to cherish her memory: children, Aaron (Shameka) Davenport, Leea (Lawrence T.) Moon, Bre’Ana Kyles (Curtis Doughrity); grandchildren, Paige Davenport, Justin Davenport and Braylon Moon; very special granddaughter/daughter, Nydia Batiste; great grandchild, JaMyra “Peanut” Lewis; mother, Beatrice Davenport; siblings, Kathy Davenport, Suzanne Davenport, Lynn (Tony) Hardiman, Marianne Jackson, Jeffrey Davenport, Sonya (Patrick) Redds; uncles, Alonzo Stewart Jr. and John Stewart; special sister-in-law, Sandra Peoples; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Kyles; father, Richard L. “Mr. D” Davenport; grandmother, LeeAtrice Stewart; grandfather, Alonzo Stewart Sr.; aunt, Katherine Stewart. The family would like to express special thanks to all the nurses and doctors that aided in Carol’s care, Pastor Terrance J. Gowdy and the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Family, and very special thanks to her mother, Beatrice Davenport and sisters, Kathy and Suzanne Davenport for their exceptional care and love for Carol, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Moon and the staff of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
