GRAVES, Ms. Carolyn - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Houston, Texas. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, February 16, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 North Perry Street, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Minister Jimmy Crump, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Ms. Graves will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home , and may be viewed from 12:00PM-6:00PM Thursday. Carolyn Elaine Graves made peace with her Creator as she transitioned from this earth on January 23, 2024, and did so without fear. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She never met a stranger and was kind to everyone who crossed her path. Carolyn befriended all those she encountered and was cherished by many. She was truly an angel on Earth. Carolyn, born in Henning, Tennessee, July 29, 1960, made her way to Pontiac, Michigan, almost two years later. She, and her mother Unicetine Graves, planted roots and made Pontiac their home. A 1978 graduate of Pontiac Central High School, Carolyn was a proud Chief. However, she did not stop her studies there. She pursued her associate degree at Oakland Community College while working for William Beaumont Hospital. After earning her degree, she continued to work at the hospital, dedicating more than 20 years of service. Carolyn was passionate about her faith and praised God until the very end. She attended and loved Triumph Church in Southfield, Michigan. Carolyn also believed in education and hard work. She instilled those same values and beliefs in her daughters, Latoika (Rajaul) King and Tierra Graves. She was their biggest cheerleader and supporter. She made sure she was there every step of the way. If you ran into Carolyn at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, she was sure to share a picture of her precious grandkids Cameron and Chandler King, and Parker Delegal. Carolyn delighted in her family and friends. She forged deep connections, treating friends, coworkers and neighbors as if they were family. Carolyn consistently invested her time and energy in nurturing these relationships, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to those she held dear. A doting mother and grandmother, Carolyn also was a devoted daughter and a big sister. She was preceded in death by her mother, Unicetine Graves. Carolyn is survived by her father, Roy V. Graves (Ida Graves) of Oakwood, Ohio; and her second mom, Emma Jean “Aunt Boonie” Fitzpatrick; She leaves behind her little sisters, Tonya Burton, LaShawnda Graves and Sheila Jelks; and her brothers, Samuel Graves, Roy Graves and Ray Graves. She was cherished and loved by many nieces and nephews.
