Cary Childs

CHILDS, Mr. Cary Rosevelt - age 90, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at Genesys Hospice. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday March 17, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Childs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Mr. Cary Rosevelt Childs was born on December 14, 1921 in Auburn, Alabama, the son of the late M. L. and Roberta Reese-Childs. Cary was the eldest of fifteen children. He moved to Pontiac, Michigan at the age of nineteen. He worked various jobs including General Motors where he worked over thirty years before retiring. After retirement he enjoyed cooking, walking and playing his numbers religiously. Cary will be sadly missed by all. He departed this life on March 5, 2012 at Genesys Hospice in Goodrich, Michigan. Mr. Childs leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Cherie L. Childs of Upper Marlboro, MD; sons, Cary Midget of Lithonia, GA, Rolland D. Childs of Detroit, MI and George Whitaker of Auburn , AL; stepchildren, Marie Fields of Pontiac, MI Raynice Childs of Las Vegas, NV and Marlene Childs, Cynthia "Shake" Johnson and Debra Betty all of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Donzell (Tanesha) Broadnax of Upper Marlboro, MD, Shaundra Broadnax of Garland, TX, Montreale Broadnax of Pontiac, MI, Shameka Wesley of TN, Minister Kevin Sanders, Shawn Midgett, Derrick Midgett and Karven Midgett all of Pontiac, MI, Rommell Childs, Chauncez Childs, Terrance Childs all of Pontiac, MI, Deonte’ Childs, Ronald Childs, Chanel Childs of Las Vegas, NV, Marvell Childs of GA and Robert Pollard, Jr. of Pontiac, MI Erik Whitaker of Windsormill, MD, Anthony and Freda Whitaker of Syracuse, NY, Verlincia Williams and Efrem Whitaker both of Auburn, AL; Isiah Whitaker of Atlanta, GA, Chris And DeeDee Wilson both of Opelika, AL; 63 great grandchildren; brother, Eddie Lewis (Dean) Childs of Auburn, AL; sister-in-law, Arlene Nelson of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Childs was preceded in death by his wives, Norma Lee Harrison-Childs, Delores Lawrence Childs; two sons and three daughters; parents, M. L. and Roberta Reese Childs; five sisters; eight brothers.
