Charles "Papa" Butler,

BUTLER, Mr. Charles Milton 'PaPa" Sr. - Age 75, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Doctors Hospital of Michigan. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 378 Auburn Ave.,with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor LeRoy Williams, Officiating Pastor James Keys, Sr Host Pastor. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Butler, Sr will lie in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Charles M. Butler Sr. was born July 29, 1935 in East, Texas to the late Dan and Arie Butler. while living in East, Texas he joined True Vine Baptist Church and he also graduated and played Football at Emmett Scott High School. Charles would move once more in the state of Texas to the city of Dallas where he worked at Brooks Sterling Funeral Home. His final and permanent move brought him to the city of Pontiac, Michigan where he fulfilled his most important role, that of husband and father. He was employed by General Motors for thirty years as a foreman and machine repairman. Charles enjoyed numerous activities such as fishing, drinking coffee at the local donut shop, watching westerns, barbequing, maintaining his lawn, but his favorite and most serious activity was that of serving in the capacity of Deacon at the Church of the Living God under the leadership of Overseer Leroy Williams. He was an active member of the deacon board for more thirty-five years. In 1984, Charles joined in holy matrimony to his best friend and soul mate Helen. In this union there was a blending of two families to one dynamic family in Jesus Christ, serving one another in love and unity. Charles and Helen enjoyed their wonderful family, but most of all they enjoyed their endearing love for each other. Charles beautiful memories shall forever be cherished by his devoted and faithful wife, Helen; five children, Charles (Michelle) Butler Jr., Sandra (Antwoine) Smith, Kim (Mike) Mosley-Fuller, Charray (Terry) Mosley and LaDell Mosley Jr.; two sisters, Sunshyne Skeins of Dallas, TX and Jean Butler of San Francisco, CA; mother-in-law, Ida Mae Julius; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; twenty grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a host of special nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
