ROBINSON, Mr. Charlie Jr. - Age 84, passed away Wednesday October 29, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Destiny Faith Church, 501 University Drive with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Pastor Andrea Ellis, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Robinson, Jr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12:00Noon-8:00PM Friday. Mr. Charlie Robinson Jr. was born February 18, 1930 in Burkville, Alabama, the son of Charlie and Hattie Thorne-Robinson Sr. Charlie married Willia Harris on July 11, 1954 in Montgomery, Alabama and later moved to Pontiac, Michigan. Charlie had several jobs which included working for Paul’s Seat Covers for thirteen years until he opened his own upholstery business in 1971, “Charlie’s Upholstery” in Pontiac. He operated Charlie’s Upholstery for thirty three years until his retirement in 2004. Charlie and Willia were married for fifty nine years until her homegoing March 2014. Charlie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior before his passing. He was known to his family as “Uncle Boot.” He loved his family, friends and helping people in the community. Charlie enjoyed boating, classic cars, hosting parties and being outdoors. He always had “Very Frank”, words of wisdom to share. Mr. Robinson leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Alvin Robinson of Pontiac, MI, Jeffrey (Claire) Robinson of Waterford, MI, Tamika (Michael A.) Chappell I of Pontiac, MI; god son, Denzell Walls of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Courtney Robinson, Jeffrey Robinson, and Shayla Salisbury all of Waterford, MI, Michael A. Chappell II and Christian Chappell both of Pontiac, MI; two sisters, Mary Brown of Montgomery, AL and Georgia Jenkins of Inkster, MI; brother, Willie (Susie) Robinson Sr. of Shaker Heights, OH; aunt, Dorothy Price of Pontiac, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special friends, George Scott, Joe Bernard, Willie Adams and Robert Hammond. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Willia Robinson; son, Charlie Robinson III; parents, Charlie and Hattie Robinson Sr; sisters, Eva Cole and Dorothy (Henry) Peterson; father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Annie Wright.
