WELLONS, Ms. Connie "Ms. Abby" "Abby Gail" - Age 64, passed away Saturday August 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Family hour 1:00PM Friday August 12, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing at 2:00PM. Minister Troy Muhammad, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:00PM Friday. Mrs. Wellons will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8:00PM Thursday. Mrs. Connie Elaine “Abby Gail” Wellons was born July 2, 1952 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of James and Gladys Wellons. Connie “Abby Gail” was the sixth child born to the late James and Gladys Wellons. Abby Gail attended Pontiac Schools. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She worked at the General Motors Fiero Plan until she started working as a caregiver for the elderly in Pontiac. She was loved by many and a mother too many. She would help any and every one regardless of who they were. She would tell it like it was, whether you wanted to hear it or not, but she would speak from her heart. Abby Gail loved to cook and we all loved to eat it. Everybody loved her Ribs, Dressing, Peach Cobbler and let’s not forget her special barbeque sauce, hell what didn’t she cook great. Til this day several women say her shared recipes is how they got their husband’s. She was a teacher, a teacher of many subjects. She would take care of your kids, even if she called and cussed you out, because you didn’t come back to pick them up when you said you were. She would teach you to clean a house and she would tell you if you slut licked the cleaning. She would show you how to pay your bills, even if she had to loan you the money to pay them. She loved to laugh, keep everyone laughing. She loved to play cards, but if you were her partner and you didn’t know how to play, you were going to get cussed out on the spot. Abby Gail was truly a remarkable woman, with a heart that poured out to everyone for so many years. It’s impossible to touch everything If you really knew Abby Gail then you know her grandchildren were her life, right or wrong? She would ride or die with every one of them. By losing Abby Gail we’ve lost the realist woman you’ll ever know. We’ve lost a “Dynasty” She departed this life on Friday August 5, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital when her heart suddenly stopped. Mrs. Wellons leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Albert-X Dowdle; children, Carla R. Wellons, Andre Wellons, Cozetta Mitchell, John X-Wellons, Alnetria (Arendell) Lee, step-daughter Ashley Dowdle; twenty one grandchildren including: Shanique (Kirby) Board, Keontray Jackson, Aleshia Wellons, Anissa Wellons, Johnae Wellons; six great grandchildren, KeMoni, Kolby,KiYomi, Kaiden, Aaliyah and Amia; two sisters, Deborah Ann Wellons and Dorothy (Charlie) Benion; two brothers, James Wellons and Chandler Wellons; twenty six nieces; sixteen nephews; two adopted sons, Andre Davis and Sam Rogers; two god sons, LaRon “Lover Boy” Wellons and Theothis “My Roy” Smith Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends including these special friends, Mama Rose Turner, Nancy Flowers and Valorie Hollis Mrs. Wellons was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gladys Wellons; siblings, Myrtise Dean, Janie Mae Turner and Charles Wellons; adopted son, Durmaine "Popcorn" Dooley.
