Elizabeth Phillips

PHILLIPS, Mrs. Elizabeth - Age 54, passed away Thursday November 19, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital of Michigan. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 318 Auburn Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor James Lawrence Sr., officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10:30AM. Mrs. Phillips will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Elizabeth (Hollis) Phillips was born November 28, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio to the parents of the late Frank Hollis and Pearlean Spann. Elizabeth attended Pontiac Schools and had one son, David R. Carter Jr., and later she met her loving companion, Harry Dickerson. Liz was a very loving person that loved God and her family very much. She was always a giving person who was a proud member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir. Liz was a compassionate mother and courageous sister. Her admirable strength and kind heart was a blessing to many. Liz took care of everyone and had an ability to bring people together. She was exceptionally gifted and knew how to lift your spirits with her contagious laughter. Liz fought a long difficult battle and decided it was time to rejoin her heavenly father. Ms. Elizabeth Phillips leaves to cherish her memory: one son, David R. Carter Jr.; one grandson, Jacob; very special companion, Harry Dickerson; ten siblings, the late Dorothy Griffin, Patsy Green, Queen (Eddie Sr.) Griffin; Nancy (Melvin) Litscomp; William Hollis, Major (Carol) Hollis, Maurice Hollis, Patricia (Coy) Hopkins, Hazel (Cory) Scruggs and Mildred Hollis; two dearly loved nieces whom she helped raise like her own, LaToya Hollis and Asia Evans; two unique nieces who stood by her side until the end, Shelita and Lover Mae; two nephews, Woodrow Hollis and Cornell Hollis; aunts and uncles whom she adored, Bessie, Samuel, Manuel, Adoise, Essie, Velma, David, Martha, Blumie and Jean; with an outstanding host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
