Ella Mae Green

GREEN, Mrs. Ella Mae - Age 83, passed away, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, April 5, 2013 at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 378 Auburn, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Pastor James Keys, Sr. officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mrs.Green will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Ella Mae Green was born January 26, 1930 in Ferriday, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Monroe and Elsie Johnson. Ella married Joseph Green in July of 1947 and moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1950, where they raised six children. They were married for almost fifty years prior to his passing in 1997. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized in Ferriday, Louisiana. In her earlier years she was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan. Later in life she became a visiting member of Mount Zion Temple in Clarkston, MI until she was unable to attend. In 1967, after being at home with her children, she became employed with Brae Burn Nursing Home, after twenty-five years of dedicated service she retired in March 1992. Ella lived a full life as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very kind and giving person to all who came in contact with her and a wonderful mother to all of her children. We have been truly blessed to have her in our lives for so many years and she will be forever missed. Ella enjoyed taking care of her family, attending movies and plays, Softball games, especially to cheer on the Pontiac Women Softball League, in which her daughter, Linda was a player on one of teams. Mrs. Green leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Linda Green (Gregory) Raspberry and Vera (Paul) Bullock; one son, Freddie Green all of Pontiac, MI; sister, Ruby Johnson of Ferriday, LA; nineteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; twenty-seven great great-grandchildren; special nieces, Ella Marie Scott of Ferriday, LA and Maryann Bowser of Charlotte, NC; dear friend, Lee Foster of Pontiac, MI; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Green was preceded in her death by her husband, Joseph Green Sr.; three sons, Joseph Jr., Terry Lee and Herman Lee Green; four sisters, Clarissa Crocket, Dorothy Johnson, Elsie Johnson, Daisy Johnson-Tinch; two brothers, Monroe Johnson Jr. and Robert Johnson.
