Mother Frankie Chester

CHESTER, Mother Frankie - age 85, passed away, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Crittenton Hospital of Rochester. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, April 19, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Bishop Robert E. Simmons, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Mrs. Chester will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mother Frankie Chester was born September 21, 1927 in Tunica, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Channie Hawkins-Chester and Frank Chester, Sr. She was a resident of Pontiac, Michigan and faithful member of Living Word Ministries. Mother Chester served in the choir; and anywhere she was needed. Frankie was educated through the Pontiac School District. She was employed with General Motors Corporation for seventeen years, and she retired to raise her grand-daughter full-time. Her hobbies interests and characteristics included spending time with family and friends, attending church, cooking, watching the “Young and Restless.” Mother Chester was a praying woman and not only a reader and hearer of the Word of God; but she was defintely a doer with a strong personality. Mother Chester leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Shonney Joye Chester of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Evelyn Francine Chester-McAllister of Glendale, AZ and Carlos Anthony Chester of Pontiac, MI; great-grandchildren, Christopher Knight, Jermaine Jones, Jr., Leviticus Fair, Cameron Chester and Fredrick McAllister IV; sisters, Dorothy Marie Henderson, Ruby (Gary) Cooper and Ida Bullock; sister-in-law, Betty Chester-Salter of West Bloomfield, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and friends. Mother Chester was preceded in death by her parents, Channey Hawkins-Chester and Frank Chester, Sr; sister, Rosie Jane Hardiman-Vaselsky and brothers, Stanley B and Frank “Nitty” Chester. The family would like to express special thanks to Mrs. Dorothy Henderson for being Power of Attorney and taking care of “Grandma” while she was alive.
