Henry Hurt

HURT, Mr. Henry - Age 61, passed away Saturday June 25, 2016 at Select Speciality Care Hospital at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Family Hour 1:30PM Saturday July 2, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2:00PM. Pastor Eric Vickers, officiating. Family and Friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Hurt will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 4:00-8:00PM Friday. Mr. Henry A. Hurt was born July 16, 1954 in Demopolis, Alabama, the son of Johnny and Lillie Hurt. Henry graduated from Green County High School and later moved to Pontiac, MI and worked as a welder. At a young age he was baptized at Old Green Oak Baptist Church in Alabama. Mr. Henry A. Hurt was a strong and compassionate man who had a great work ethic and a sense of humor. Several of his hobbies included playing cards, watching old western movies, cooking, grilling and spending time with love ones. Mr. Henry A. Hurt leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Katherine Hurt; son, Marion Boyd of Pontiac, MI; step-son, Dexter (Len) Collier of CA; grandchildren, Pastor Eric George Vickers of Atlanta, GA, Christen Vickers, Cierra Collier, Cara Collier, Xiaver Collier, Samay Collier all of Pontiac, MI and Evan Collier of Katy, TX; great grandchildren, Anai Collier, Kylah Norton, Kiyah Norton of Pontiac, MI and Noelle Collier and Eric Anthony George Vickers Jr. of Atlanta, GA; six sisters, Elizabeth Martin and Betty McDowell of Detroit, MI and Katherine Redrick, Rosie Todd, Marie Hurt and Lillie-Mae (George) Long of Cleveland, OH; three brothers, Jonnie Hurt of Cleveland, OH, Willie and Samuel Hurt of Detroit, MI; nieces, Keyana Hurt and Sharice of Detroit, MI and Chwana Cooper of Pontiac, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Henry A. Hurt was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lille Hurt; sister, Josephine Teague; brother, Anais Hurt; and daughter-in-law, Gina L. Vickers. The family would like to express special thanks to Macie Cooper and Willie Cooper Sr. for all of the errands and doctor’s appointments.
