BASS, Mr. Jayson Edward - age 38, passed away, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, May 22, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM. Dr. Gregory Heathman, Officiating. Interment White Lake Cemetery, 6190 White Lake Rd. Friends and pallbearers assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Bass will lie in state in Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from Noon - 8:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Jayson Edward Bass was born on September 23, 1976 and departed this life on Thursday May 14, 2015 at St Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac Michigan. Jayson was the son of Jessie James Bass and Lanie Bass. He was a lifelong resident of Pontiac, Michigan and graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1994. He then went on to attend Oakland Community College. He worked at DANA Corporation until he became self-employed in the home improvement field. Jayson was an amazing cook, avid outdoorsman, and an exercise enthusiast. Jayson was also an active supportive father to his children that he shared with his fiancé Nichole. Jayson had a strong belief in family, and served as a coach and mentor to his many nieces and nephews. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in April of 2012. Even during his illness, Jayson remained a confident and upbeat person and could be seen volunteering at his children’s school as a math tutor. He brought joy and humor to those who knew him. Jayson could be heard jokingly sparring with family, stating “you almost caught a 3 piece, but now all I have is one hash brown and a biscuit!” While we must now say goodbye to a special son, brother, and confidant, Jayson will never be forgotten and we are forever grateful for our time spent with him. Mr. Bass leaves to cherish his memory: his fiancé Nichole Eslick; two daughters, Nia and Mia Bass; and one son, Peyton Smith Bass; parents, Jessie James Bass Sr. and Lanie Bass; one brother, Jessie James Bass Jr; four sisters, Cynthia Bass, Ellen Kae Bussey, Donna Martin, and Danita (Michael) Dixon; nine aunts; thirteen uncles; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives including special friends, Richard and Jackie Vanderzwaag and Nathon and Cindy Eslick. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roosevelt and Charlene Bussey, Edward and Joyce Bass, and Bernice and Johnny Harris; uncles, Walter Bass, Nathaniel, Roosevelt, George, and Ulise Bussey; aunts, Charlene Bussey-Reed and Commelia Bussey.
