GREENE, Mrs. Johnnie Mae age 67, passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Uniersity of Michigan Hospital Ann Arbor. Family hour 11:00AM Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 378 Auburn Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11:30 AM. Rev. Marcus Wallace, Officiating. Pastor James H. Keys, Sr. Host Pastor. Family and friends will assemble at the church 11:00AM Saturday. Mrs. Greene will lie in state at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 378 Auburn Ave., and may be viewed from 3:00PM - 8:00PM Friday. Mrs. Johnnie Mae Greene born Johnnie Mae Kirk March 31, 1948 in McAlister, Oklahoma to the late Maxine Odessa Kirk and Johnny Boody. Johnnie was next to the youngest of five children, she joined Marshall Memorial Baptist Church at an early age. She was formally educated at Douglas High School, Oklahoma City, Ok. Johnnie moved her and her children to Pontiac, Michigan in 1978. She was a loyal employee at Lourdes Nursing Home until she retired in 2012. In 1986, she met her soulmate Eugene M. Greene and they were joined in holy matrimony on March 31, 1993. Johnnie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She taught those around her the real meaning of love and family. She loved the Lord. She enjoyed her family, bingo, cooking, and playing cards. Her big warm smile and sense of humor always made you feel loved and welcomed. Our family will forever be grateful and thankful to God for giving us his good and faithful servant. He summoned her to come home on June 13, 2015. Johnnie was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Odessa Kirk; father, Johnny Boody; two brothers, Richard Kirk, and Theodore Ellis. Mrs. Johnnie Mae Greene walked into her “SEASON,” leaving to cherish her precious memory: her husband, Eugene M. Greene of Pontiac, MI; grandmother, Norma Snowwhite Kirk of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, LaDonna (Joseph) Branner of Pontiac, MI, Zenia (Vincent) Hayden of Raleigh , NC; two sons, Roderick Akins of Pontiac, MI, Tony (Lori) Cooks of Tulsa ,OK; six step-daughters, Valaria Griffin of Baltimore, MD, Karen Greene of San Diego, CA, Tina (Lex) Curry of Orlando, FL, Brenda (Phillip) Johnson of Clearwater, FL , Robin Greene of Atlanta, GA, Leslie (Damon) Morris of Pontiac, MI; two step-sons, Eugene (Juliet) Greene Jr. of Orlando, FL, Lewis (Patricia) Allen of Ocala, FL; two siblings, JoAnn (Roosevelt) Woods of Pontiac, MI, Marva (Reginald) Dotson of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Marie Kirk of Pontiac, MI; eighteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
