CAREY, Ms. Joyce Marie - Age 47, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Ms. Carey leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Ashley Collins, sons, Edward (Taneka) Carey, Jr. and Brian Collins; 4 grandchildren, Jailen and Naomi Keyes, Edward Alex Carey, Braylin Grandberry and one due May, 2009; parents, Betty Tyler and Charles Holmes, Sr.; step parents, James Tyler and Henry Hill; grandparents, Margaret and Clifton Lewis; sisters, Christine Tyler and Sherry James; brother, Charles (Kita) Holmes, Jr and a host of other relatives and friends. Family hour 10:30a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11a.m. Pastor Floyd Jones, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30a.m. Saturday. Ms. Carey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3-7p.m. Friday. Joyce Marie Carey was born to Betty J. Tyler and Charles Holmes, Sr. on August 22, 1960 at Pontiac General Hospital. She graduated from Pontiac Northern High School and was pursuing a degree in paralegal at Baker College until her sudden illness. Joyce accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and continued to fellowship at Door of Faith in her later years. Although she was not an active member, she remained spiritual, faithful and always knew that God was the head of her life. Binky (as she was affectionately called by her family and long time friends) was wise, energetic, and possessed a sense of humor. We all knew her to be a caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family reading, and gardening. Joyce Marie will truly be missed by her family and friends and all those that were blessed with her acquaintance. She was called home to spend eternity with the Lord as she peacefully departed this life on July 22, 2008. Joyce leaves to rejoice her memory; her loving mother, Betty Tyler; father, Charles Holmes Sr; stepfathers, Henry Hill and James Tyler; sons, Edward(Taneka) Carey, Jr. of the USS Navy and Brian Collins; daughter, Ashley Collins; sisters, Christine Tyler and Sherry Holmes; grandchildren, Jailen and Naomi Keyes of Atlanta, GA; Edward Alex Carey of Florida; Braylin Grandberry of Pontiac; and one expecting grandchild due May 2009; grandparents, Margaret and Clifton Lewis; maternal aunts, Severine, Veronica, Diane and Deborah Lewis; uncles, George, Clifton Jr. and Ladell Lewis; nieces, Chianti Burton and Chanel Tyler; nephew, Derek Tyler Jr; great niece, Chi’ Vari; special cousins, Nancy Thomas and Margaret Pittman; and a host of other relatives and special friends.
