Lawrence Hardy,

HARDY, Mr. Lawrence V Sr. - Age 90, passed Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at his residence. Family hour 10:30a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007 from Trinity Missionary Baptist Church 123 Wesson St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11a.m. Pastor Drew E. Marshall, officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, 210 University Drive. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30a.m. Monday. Mr. Hardy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12-8pm Sunday. Mr. Lawrence V. Hardy, Sr., was born May 5, 1917 to Green and S.V. Hardy in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the oldest of ten children to his parents, four girls and six boys. He was greatly admired by his younger siblings. Lawrence traveled the U.S. near and far, but eventually settled in Pontiac where he met and married Gladys Smith. To this union three children were born: two sons and one daughter. Lawrence worked many years at Pontiac Motors and owned his own trucking business. He retired from Pontiac Motors in July 1977. Lawrence accepted Christ as his personal savior and served faithfully as a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. He served Trinity as both a trustee and a long-time member of the Usher Board. He was also a member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, with the Gibraltar Lodge No. 19 where he served many years as chaplain. Brother Hardy dearly loved his church and his lodge. Lawrence was not a stranger to anyone that met him. He was a very loving person and could strike up a conversation on any topic with everyone he met. He loved Baseball and could always be found sitting in his favorite chair watching ball games on the television. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Lawrence V. Hardy, Sr., leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Gladys Hardy; son, David C. Hardy of Pontiac; daughter, June K. Henderson of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy A. Henderson of Indianapolis, IN, Amaris A. and Simeon D. Hardy of Pontiac; sister, Esther (Harold) Adams of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Larry (Velma) Hardy of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Hazel Brown of Pontiac; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Jr.; parents; four brothers and three sisters.
