LEWERS, Mr. L.C. Jr. - Age 74, passed away Sunday October 7, 2012 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Friday October 12, 2012 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 512 Pearsall Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Terrance J. Gowdy, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mr. Lewers will lie in state at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and may be viewed from 10:30AM-11AM Friday. Final Arrangements are entrusted to: Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary, 1011 Augusta St. Greenville, SC 29605 (864) 242-1144. Mr. L.C. Lewers, Jr. a son of the late L.C. Lewers, Sr., and Carrie Downs Lewers was born January 30, 1938 in Greenville, South Carolina. At an early age he joined the Reedy River Baptist Church in Mauldin, SC, then later moved his membership to Macedonia Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan where he was a member on the Mass Choir and the All Male Choir, until his health declined. He attended the public schools of Greenville County, South Carolina and was a 1957 graduate of Bryson High School in Fountain Inn, SC. L.C. was married to the late Pauline Kerns-Lewers. On Friday, October 5, 2012, L.C. entered into eternal rest at his home in Pontiac, Michigan. Mr. Lewers leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories: daughters, Sarah D. Robinson, Betty Ann Thomas, Mildred Jones of Pontiac, MI; son, Andy Lewers of Pontiac, MI; brothers, Carl Lewers of Spartanburg, SC, Rev. Calvin (Vera) Lewers of Charlotte, NC and Harold (Shelia) Lewers of Greenville, SC; sisters, Reverend Mae Dee (Reverend Willie) Allen of Easley, SC and Bernice (Mike) Irby of Irmo, SC; sister-in-law, Daisy Lewers of Piedmont, SC and Bessie Kerns Robinson of Mauldin, SC; one brother-in-law, Ludie Milam Jr., of Mauldin, SC; daughter-in-law, Bertha Lewers of Pontiac, MI; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mr. Lewers was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Kerns-Lewers; one brother, James E. Lewers; and one sister, Christine Lewers-Milam; one stepdaughter, Judy Marie Montgomery.
