Lewis "Lou" Rainge Sr.

RAINGE, Mr. Lewis "Lou" Sr., - Age 75, passed away Friday July 3, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday July 11, 2015, at Door of Faith Christian Church, 511 South Sanford Street, with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Earl O. Crump, Officiating. Intement Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Rainge, Sr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., from Noon - 8:00PM Friday. On February 17, 1940 Lewis Arrington Rainge Sr., was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He transitioned on July 3, 2015 after a long battle with a terminal illness. He was the sixth of nine children born to his parents, the late Jack and Dinah Rainge. He was preceded in death by one sibling, Clara Mae White. He attended the Montgomery Public School System. After his school day, Lewis often enjoyed playing football and working as a caddie at the Montgomery County Golf Courses. Moral and spiritual values were instilled in Lewis and his siblings early on in life. These values set a foundation for his adult life, and a foundation for his strong work ethic. To pursue work, Lewis moved from Montgomery Alabama, to Pontiac, Michigan and accepted employment with General Motors Corporation, Truck and Bus Division (GM), where he was employed with the company for thirty-six years. After this long tenure with GM, he retired in 2000 with honors and recognition. Throughout his life, Lewis always had a personality that would cause others to seek him out as a friend. He faithfully attended Door of Faith Christian Church, under the leadership and tutelage of Pastor Earl O. Crump. Within the church he served as an Usher, Mentor and Friend to many youth and members of the congregation. Love, Marriage and Family are important to a person as was it with Lewis. He met and married Ernestine Perry in 1995, instantly expanding his role as a father figure and grandfather. Lewis leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Ernestine Rainge; children, Ebony Rainge, Nikki (Nathan) Chambers, Dorothy Burton, Louis (Stephanie) Rainge Jr., Rod (Ronda) Perry, Alan (Mia) Rainge, and Lorenzo Surgeon; twenty grandchildren; one great grandchild, Jermiah Hill; seven brothers and sisters, Margaret (Earl) Williams, Cleo (Willie) Wilson, Elizabeth (Zeek) Washington, Bessie (John) Wright, Joseph (Marion) Rainge, Fred (Mildred) Rainge, Jack (Billie Jean) Rainge; and a host of other relatives and friends and church members that will miss him also.
