GLEEN, Mrs. Linda - age 59, passed away, Monday, June 6, 2016 at McLaren Hospital Oakland. Family Hour 10:30AM Friday, June 17, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM. Pastor William Parker, Jr. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Mrs. Gleen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Linda Gleen, life-long resident of Pontiac, Michigan, went to Glory Monday June 6, 2016 at McLaren Oakland Hospital. Born July 18, 1956, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of the late Lela DeWalt and Norman Gleen. Linda dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Pontiac, Michigan. She acquired her GED, and later went on to receive her degree in both Business Administration and Culinary Arts. Linda loved good food and socializing with family and friends, had a wonderful smile that could light up the room. She was a vibrant soul right up until she became ill. She was full of joy and ALWAYS eager to help out no matter what the problem was. She had a love for music as well, two of her most favorite tunes were Smokey Robinson “Really Gonna Miss You” and the Gospel tune, “Going up Yonder.” If you knew Linda, you knew that one of her greatest pleasures was playing Bingo and playing Yahtzee or the card game Casino with her mother. Linda was a remarkable woman who ALWAYS held her head high and gave selflessly to those around. I know she is watching us and is with us in spirit. Let us remember Linda as the carefree and loving person she was and celebrate the life of a great woman as we honor her memory today. We are so glad that we had the opportunity to share life with her, and intend to share her legacy with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Gleen leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Henry Lee Gleen of Pontiac, MI; children, Tina (David) Hammond, Tramilla DeWalt, Arthur Smith, George (Ashley) Thompson, Zakia Gleen; three step-sons, Louis Adams, Ray Adams and Darryl Adams; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-father, Mack Tucker; sisters, Pamela Reed, Brenda Matthews, Tressie Gonzales; brothers, Cameron DeWalt, James DeWalt, James Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Gleen was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda DeWalt; grandson, Charles Hammond; parents, Lela DeWalt-Tucker and Norman Overton; grandparents, T.P. DeWalt and Lelar DeWalt; sisters, Denise DeWalt and LaTrease DeWalt; brothers, Eddie DeWalt and Alfred DeWalt; and special friend, George O. Thompson.
