DIXON-TUCKER, Mr. Malachi "Mack" - age 91, passed away, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at McLaren Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Billy D. Allen, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 North Belford Road. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Wednesday. Mr. Dixon-Tucker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Malachi "Mack" Dixon-Tucker was born October 26, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. Sunset February 15, 2012 at McLaren Hospital. Son of Mack Dixon and Gertrude Stratton Mr. Tucker found Christ at an early age. He resided in Pontiac, Michigan and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was educated in the Pontiac School system. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and received an honorable discharge for many years of faithful service. He worked in the construction field advancing to the status of a master cement finisher. He worked for companies such as Barton Marlow and worked on many significant new construction projects in the region including Detroit’s Renaissance Center, General Motor’s Tech Center in Milford, the Pontiac Motors plant, the Pontiac’s Phoenix Center, and Monroe Michigan’s nuclear power plant – just to name a few. During his career he was founder and president of two companies: The Peterman & Mack Construction Company, and the Freidman and Mack Construction Company. His jobs took him all over Michigan as well as to Ohio and Indiana. Mack’s skills as a cement finisher enabled him to teach thousands of apprentices the cement finishing trade. He loved to fish, hunt, and shoot pool. He also enjoyed picnicking and going to baseball games. Mr. Tucker leaves to cherish his memory: five daughters, Joanne (Oliver) Gutter, Franzola (Steve) Manning, Eleanor Carol Tucker, Deborah Franklin all of Pontiac, and Gwendolyn Edwards of Bauxite, Arkansas; four sons, Malachi Michael Dixon, Lamont Tucker, Clarence Franklin all of Pontiac, and Jerry Franklin of Buffalo, New York; two sisters, Eleanor Evans and Rose Hailey of Oceanside, California; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; great great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives including special friend, Helen Lavallis. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his sons, Theodore Tucker, and Terrald Tucker; mother, Gertrude Stratton; father Mack Dixon; sister, Myrtle Williams; brothers, Theodore Tucker, Edgar Tucker, Joseph Tucker, and Fred Tucker.
