Mamie Fowler

FOWLER, Mamie Bessie - Age 83, passed away Monday, January 28, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday February 3, 2007, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 345 Bagley, with funeral service commencing at 12 Noon. Rev. James H. Porter, Jr., officiating. Interment Perry Mt. Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday Mrs. Fowler will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and my be viewed from 12Noon-8p.m. Friday. Mrs. Mamie Fowler was born February 16, 1923 in Atlanta, Louisiana, the daughter of Elisa and Tom Wilson. Mrs. Fowler loved the Lord, and accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Pontiac, Michigan, she became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she served many diligent years, earning the distinction in May, 1998, as "The Mother Of Goodness", and in 1999, as "Mother Of The Year". In her continued quest to seek more of Jesus, higher heights, deeper depths, and the Holy Ghost, she was obedient to the Word of God, and on July 31st, 1997, at the loving age of 74 years, was baptized in water, in Jesus' Name. Mrs. Fowler, loved the gifts from God whom she bore through the fruit of her womb. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She deemed her love, her care, and nurturing of them as her job, her duty, her charge, and her profession. She took great pride in the work of raising, caring, and loving her children and she is commended, and will always be remembered, and appreciated for a job wonderfully done. Mrs. Mamie Fowler leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Betty G. Brown, and Jurlean Fuqua; and one son, Carlos E. (Timica) Fowler; sister-in-laws, Cleola Fowler of Las Vegas, NV; Amber Caldwell of Shreveport, LA; Irene Dean of Houston, TX; Pearlean Evans of Heflin, LA; and Ida Mae Smith of Gibland, LA; god-daughter; Keyonna York of Beaufort, SC-U.S. Marine Corps; ten grandchildren, Mark Sr, Pennsylvania-U.S. Marine Corps, Janice, Virginia-U.S.-Pentagon, Michelle, Florida, Andre, Cuba-U.S. Army, Antonio, Illinois, Lisa, Marshalynn, Karmen, Tameeka, and Frances, all of Pontiac; twenty one great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving friends, church family of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, and special friends, Clemmie and Gwen Sasnett and family. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore H. Fowler; twin children, Churley and Charles, her brothers, and sisters and parents Elisa and Tom Wilson.
