HILL, Mrs. Marie "Ganny" - Age 75, passed away Friday January 6, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy-Oakland Hospital. Family hour 11:00AM Friday January 13, 2012 at St. John United Methodist Church, 620 University Drive, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:30AM. Pastor Karen Noel, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Mrs. Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Marie Edwards-Hill was born to the late Lois and Clarence L. Edwards, Sr. on September 15, 1936, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Marie was born into a family who loved and worshipped God. She then accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her teen years at Allen Chappell United Methodist Church which gave her the strength and courage to graduate from Carver High School in 1955. Mrs. Hill later went on with her schooling and graduated from Area Trade School in Denmark, South Carolina. Upon finishing in Cosmetology she then moved to Washington D.C. with her Aunt Modora and the late Uncle Leroy Edwards. She met John at a dance. He attended the dance with his cousin Charlie, and she was with her cousin Connie. She and John began dating after that and they were married in August 1963. When John was told by his uncle Lawrence that there were jobs in the Pontiac area, John and Marie moved, and they began their family, two daughters (Ronda and JoAnne). Marie Hill worked as a daycare worker at Nazarene School; Baldwin Early Learning Center and she retired from P.A.T.H. (Pontiac Area Transitional Housing). Marie was an avid lover of traveling. She and John traveled to various places. She enjoyed many of the trips with the Bowen Center. She and John traveled to Martha’s Vineyard, the Fall Tour and Alaska. Mrs. Hill leaves to cherish her memory: loving spouse, John C. Hill; daughters, Ronda and JoAnne; granddaughters, Quinn Hill and Natalia Smith; sister, Betty E. Reynolds; sister and brother-in-laws, Dorothy Hill, Richard (Diane) Hill, Edna (George) Rush, Shirley Bates, Marianne (Alvin) Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Clarence L. Edwards, Sr.; brother, Clarence L. Edwards, Jr. and Frank Edwards; brother-in-law, James L. Reynolds.
