TURNIPSEED, Mother Semmie M - Age 77, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Danto Health Care. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Door of Faith Christian Church, 511 South Sanford Street, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Earl O. Crump, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Tuesday. Mother Turnipseed will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Monday. Semmie Mae Henderson was born January 10, 1934 in Jackson MS, the daughter of Mr. Zelma Henderson and Flora Bell Houseworth.Semmie completed her education in the Jackson MS. School district. She was united in holy matrimony to David Carter Turnipseed and from that union they had 4 children. Kenneth, David Jr. Keith and Marilyn Diane. They moved from MS to Chicago Il in 1958 they proceeded to have 2 more children, Floretta and Kerry. Semmie attended Ebenezer Baptist Church on the Southside of Chicago where she confessed Christ. Semmie was a gifted seamstress who used her talent to sew for songstress Keisa Brown(her sister), Apostle Joann Long, The Razzmatazz modeling troop, the Full figure ladies of Chicago, Rev. Rosalind Simmons, authoress and conference speaker, and many more. She owned her own Beauty Supply Store on the Southside of Chicago. Semmie was a church mother and intercessor at Royal Priesthood Ministry under the leadership of Robert and Regina Trammel, New Wine Church under Pastor Tom and Samantha Bynum, Crusaders Ministry under Pastor John Eckhardt. Semmie Moved to Pontiac MI in 2001 and became a faithful member of the Door Of Faith Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Earl O. Crump where she was also a church mother. Mother Semmie had such a love for people and enjoyed ministering The Word of God and praying for others. She was a wise woman and her faith in God was strong. She was a mother to many and she loved to cook and she was famous for her Pull Apart Cake, chili cornfield, BBQ chicken wings and hot lemon cake. (MERCY)!!!. Semmie Leaves To Cherish Her Memory: Six children, Kenneth, David (Arelia) and Keith of Chicago, Kerry, Marilyn Diane and Floretta of Pontiac Mi. 3 sisters Nettie Ruth, Evelyn and Nadine of Chicago. 35 Grand Children, 60 Great Grand Children and 3 Great Great Grand Children. A host of Nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Her Door of Faith Family.Grandmother Nettie Houseworth, Mother Flora Bell, Father Zelma, 2 Sisters Thelma Louise and Verna (Keisa) Brown, 1 Brother GW Adams, 2 grandsons, Kenny Baldwin Jr. and Keith Turnipseed Jr.2 nephews Norvell and Terri Adams and honorary son Con Williams preceded in death.
