SMITH, Mother Martha Ann – age 86, passed away, Sunday, August 16, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family Hour 10:00 AM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 394 Howland Avenue., with Funeral Service commencing immediately at 11:00 AM. Pastor Solomon Smith, Jr., Officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00AM Saturday. Mother Smith will lie in state at the Church and may be viewed from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday. Mother Smith leaves to cherish her memory, children, Cynthia “Cindy” Smith, John K. (Angelena) “Angie” Smith, Dennis T. Smith and Tiffany (Paul) Smith-Sherman; grandchildren, Damon (Kristen) Smith, John K. Smith, II, Jarrett (Sade’) Smith, Erica (Kevin) Percy, Keylan Malik-Stovall-Smith and Paul “PJ” Sherman and great-grandchildren, Marissa, Montrel, Kevin “KJ”, Erin, Devon and Sydney; siblings, Alice Manning-Moore and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mother Smith was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Smith; great grands, De’Andre Smith and Shawn Vines; parents, Walker and Naomi Yeargin; siblings, Melvin Byrd, Josephine Blanton, Evelyn M. Beginning on April 10, 2020 at 9:00 am, and Continuing Until Further Notices. All assemblages of more than 10 people in a single indoor shared space and all events of more than 10 people are prohibited in this state. A single indoor shared space includes but is not limited to a room, hall, cafeteria, auditorium, theater, or gallery.
