Nigeal Ray "Nige" Tate-Shaw

TATE- SHAW, Mrs. Nigeal Ray "Nige" - Age 67, passed away Sunday September 29, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, October 7, 2013 at New Experience Spiritual Church of Christ, 575 E. Pike Street., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Bishop Antonio Gibson, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mrs. Shaw will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Nigeal Ray Tate-Shaw was born July 26, 1946 in McComb, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Lavon and Jonnie B. Tate. She was baptized at an early age at Society Hill Missionary Baptist Church and recently became a member of the New Experience Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Antonio P. Gibson. She attended Burgland High School in Pike County. Nigeal was a very loving person and loved to spend time with family. Her family was very important piece to the puzzle of her life. Nigeal was a sports fanatic. She loved basketball and football the most. Her favorite teams were the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Lions, but when they did not play well, she dropped them like a hot potato! Nigeal absolutely loved to cook, she was best known for her highly requested potato salad. Every picnic and family gathering had to have her famous potato salad. When it came to the kitchen, she handled her business and handled it well! On Sunday, September 29, 2013 the Lord spoke to her in a small voice and said, daughter come unto me and rest. As the angels sang, she answered his call and made her transition from labor to reward. Nigeal leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, Yolanda (Ronald Terry) Shaw of Pontiac, Michigan; who was her care provider during her illness, son, Reginald (Simone) Shaw of Saginaw, MI; Lifetime companion, Arthur “Sonny” Shaw; (2) special stepdaughters, Stacey Shaw-Williams of Chicago, Illinois, and Maia Shaw of Memphis Tennessee; (2) special stepsons, Bryan Thompson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Deonte Gibson of Dallas, Texas; (3) sisters, Helen C. Milton which was her best friend of Pontiac, Michigan, Mary Doreen Martin and Pamela Tate of McComb, Mississippi; (3) brothers, Thomas (Hattie) Tate, Michael Tate, Marquette (Elaine) Tate all of McComb, Mississippi; (8) grandchildren, Corey, Devonte, Dominique, Reginald “RJ”, Amari, Abigail, Willie, Shalonda; (2) great grandchildren, Tayvion and Devyn; A special adopted daughter, Sonja Dates and grandsons, Robert Seay and Quavontae Smith. A special friend, Jody Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nigeal was preceded in death by her parents, Lavon and Jonnie B. Tate; son, Derek Lavon Shaw; and brother, Bobbie Earl Tate.
