Nora Jean Sangster

SANGSTER, Ms. Nora Jean - age 65, passed away, Sunday, November 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday November 16, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor John Gunn, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friend and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Saturday. Ms. Sangster will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3-8PM Friday. Nora Jean Sangster was born to Louis and Sula Mae Sangster in Stanton, Tennessee. She was the fourth oldest of eight children. Nora Jean gave her life to Christ early in life at the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stanton, Tennessee. Nora Jean received her education from Stanton Elementary in Stanton, TN, and then on to Gailor High School in Mason, Tennessee. At the age of 17, Nora Jean moved over to Pontiac, MI where she became a member of Saint James Baptist Church and met the late Sam Weaver. Nora Jean worked 20 plus years as a domestic worker for several families in the Bloomfield Hills area. Nora Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and a good friend, with the most unconditional type of love in her heart for every person blessed to be in her presence. Nora Jean was the center of her children and grandchildren’s lives. She adored each of them and kept them all close to her heart, including six of the 12 grandchildren she raised. Nora was the glue of the Sangster Family ~ the back bone that mended them together. Nora Jean enjoyed family holidays, especially, Thanksgivings at Aunt Doll and Uncle Chuck house. Watching the family grow and sprout their wings and build their own families. Continuing in her legacy and sharing her life’s stories are her three children: Kimberly F. Sangster, Kendrick D. Sangster, and Kenneth R. (Shelia M) Sangster; two sisters: Annie Ruth Sangster, and Jeanette Sangster both of Stanton, TN: two brothers Louis Chester (Peggy) Sangster, Johnie (Barbara) Sangster both of Stanton, TN: One Aunt Dorthula (Charles) Jackson of Pontiac, MI: twelve Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Ms. Sangster leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Kendrick Sangster and Kenneth (Sheila M.) Sangster; daughter, Kimberly Sangster; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Sangster and Annie Ruth Sangster; two brothers, Louis Chester (Peggy) Sangster, Jr., and Johnie (Barbara) Sangster and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Ms. Sangster was preceded in death by her parents, Sula Mae and Louis Sangster; special friend, Sam Weaver; sister, Darlean Noel and two brothers, Willie Sangster and Randy Sangster.
