MACK, Pastor Clarence "Slip" - age 64, passed away. Wednesday, October 13, 2016 at his residence in Davenport, Iowa. Family hour 10:00AM Monday, October 24, 2016 at New Creation Church of Apostolic Faith, 15888 Greenfield Road Detroit, MI 48227 with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Pastor Yvonne Hawkins Bell, Officiating. Pastor Mark Anderson, Eulogist. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Pastor Mack will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Sunday. Pastor Clarence Sanford Mack Jr. was born to the union of the late Stella Mae and Clarence Mack, Sr. on September 12, 1952 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the oldest of four siblings. Pastor Mack was a product of Pontiac Public School District and graduated from Pontiac Northern High School. He furthered his education at Cranbrook Institute of Arts and Oakland University. Pastor Mack was employed by Pontiac Board of Education for over twenty-one years. He was also employed at the prestigious Carey Lee Restaurant in Birmingham, Michigan and retired from Hardy North America in Davenport, Iowa. Pastor Mack had many hobbies and past times one being photography. Clarence better known as “Slip” used his camera as a tool to bring out the beauty of everyone he photographed. Another hobby and past time was that Clarence loved to ballroom dance. Clothing was a passion of Pastor Mack, especially bow ties. Pastor Mack loved relaxing by the water and spending time with his family and dear friends. At an early age, Pastor Mack was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Lottie Glenn at New Creation Church of Apostolic Faith in Detroit, Michigan. Under the leadership of the late Pastor David Ellison. Pastor Mack received the gift of the Holy Spirit in 2003. Being called by God to the ministry, Pastor Clarence Mack received his ordination under Bishop Author M. Bariaiser of Chicago, Illinois. Pastor Mack was called to pastor Now Faith Apostolic Church in Davenport, Iowa. Later, under the leadership of Pastor Mark Anderson at Pentecostal Church of God in Iowa. Pastor Clarence Mack’s life reflected his belief, commitment and devotion to serving God. Everything was centered on living for God. Pastor Mack had some favorite sayings. One being, “It doesn’t take long to be strong.” Another, “We are too blessed to be stressed.” God is not through with us yet. Stewart of Dearborn Heights, MI; god brother, Dave McKinney; twenty grandchildren; four great grandchildren; aunts, Avis Holmes of Detroit, MI and Shirley Napoleon of Pontiac, MI; brother-in-law, Archie (Jean) Bell, Sr. of Pontiac, MI; niece, Ashley E. Mack of Detroit, MI; nephews, Archie Bell, Jr., Richard Bell both of Clarkston, MI and Arron Bell of Pontiac, MI; great nephew, Solomon Bell of Pontiac, MI; former spouse, Vernita Mack of Davenport, IA; and a host of other numerous relatives and friends. Pastor Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Stella M Holmes-Mack and Clarence Mack Sr.; and siblings, Debra Bell and Elder Steven Mack.
