Rev. Keith Rouser, Sr.

ROUSER, Rev. Keith, Sr. - age 67, passed away, Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:00AM Thursday March 24, 2016 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Michigan Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Jerry Love, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Thursday. Rev. Rouser will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12Noon-6PM Wednesday. Reverend Keith Rouser Sr. was born March 9, 1949 to the late Alonzar Rouser Sr. and Mattie Ruth Rouser. Keith was the eldest son of fourteen children. Rev Rouser accepted Christ at an early age at the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Rouser would later accept the call from God and join ranks of the ministry at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he would serve as a Associate Minister, under the Pastorate of the Reverend Jerry Love. He attended and received his education from the Pontiac School District. Keith had a multitude of friends, but the class of 1968 was his favorite. Many of hos friends he obtained from grade school age. One thing about Keith, if he befriended you, you had his loyalty for a lifetime. Keith had a gift of remembering names and faces of thousands of people he came in contact with. Upon completion of his education, he joined the United States Army and went off to serve his country proudly in the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his tour of duty he was honorable discharge and returned back to Pontiac, Michigan. It was in Pontiac, that he met the love of his life Joyce M. Hollis, the two would form a union that would last forty-three years. To this union was born six children. He worked for the City of Pontiac, General Motors Truck and Bus Corporation and as a Security Guard. He later became disabled in 2004. Reverend Rouser enjoyed eating “wild game”, and trying to persuade others to indulge in as well. He would also enjoy watching “cowboy and Indian movies”, whooping friends in pool, reading the word of God and walking the walk and talking the talk. You may not always want to intercept what he had to say but he always told the truth whether it was at church or in the streets and even for his country. Keith always fought for what he believed in and would lay down his life to aide and assist anyone human being especially his family. Reverend Rouser leaves to cherish his memory: wife of forty-three years, Joyce M. Rouser; children, Kametra Rouser, Keith (Kia) Rouser Jr., Keilon Rouser, Kendrick Rouser, Kenyell (Shavon) Rouser, Keith Moore, Keonda Manley, Kareem Manley, Katrina McDonald, LaToya Steward, Mark Foster, Kenya Lewis and Kevin (Andrea) Manley; host of grandchildren; three great grandchildren; ten siblings, Shian Edwards, Arnold, Evelyn, Dennis, Cheryl, Mary, Yetta, Alonezar Jr., Varlene and Robert Rouser; godchildren, Dana and Donald Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including special friends, Delores Hunter, Walter Noels, Johnny Harris, William Hollis, Bobby Love and many many more. Reverend Rouser was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Donnell Rouser; parents, Alonezar Sr. and Mattie Ruth Rouser; siblings, Derrick and Darlene Rouser and Angela Williams.
