Roberta Hunter

HUNTER, Mrs. Roberta "Dutt"- Age 71, passed Monday, January 21, 2008 at Harper Hospital Detroit. Family hour 10:00a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Bray Temple CME Church, 46 North Roselawn St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11a.m. Rev. Llewlyn Jones, officiating. Rev. Nancy McGowan-Miller, Host Pastor. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Hunter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1-8p.m. Monday. Roberta Graves Hunter was born on October 4, 1936 unto the union of the late Junious and Mary Graves in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Melrose High School in Memphis, TN. While in Memphis, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Herbert Hunter of Memphis, TN in 1957. Through God?s great work they were blessed to have nine precious children namely: Cynthia, Sheryl, Steven, Undrena, Linda, Keith, Marvin, Marva and LaTonia. Although she had many things that she was good at the most significant was that she was an avid mother, wife, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother and very special to most people who knew her, as she would make you laugh and was known to be an excellent cook. Over the years she continued to keep in touch with many of her classmates and was a mystery guest at one of her class reunions. She enjoyed traveling especially to the Caribbean. She was a member of Bray Temple CME Church and knew the Lord for herself. She embraced a Christian religion and worked out her own soul salvation with the Lord Jesus Christ. She became very ill in November of 2006. During her long-term illness she went to rest with her maker on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 7:13 p.m. at the Harper Grace Hospital located in Detroit, Michigan. Remaining to treasure her beloved husband Herbert of 50 years as he faithfully stood by her bedside during her illness whether it was a kiss on the cheek or to rub her legs when they hurt to meet her needs any time of the day or night. As a husband you did well, you ran the race with her and she will always cherish and love you for that. God will bless you for a job well done. Remaining to treasure her memories are her three sisters, Bobbie Jean (Johnnie) Lee, Elizabeth Jones and Willie Mae Kinney all of Pontiac; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Rev. Jonathan Morris of Alexandria, VA, Jackie Ray Walton, Harry McCullough Jr.; one-daughter-in-law, Vicky Hunter of Pontiac; two brothers-in-law, Herman Hunter of Buffalo, NY, Arthur Hunter of Duncaster, England; four sisters-in-law, Marie Tucker of Panama City, FL, Mary Lou Wallace of Somerville, TN, Mattie Jean Bumpus of Covington, TN, Ernestine Graves of Memphis, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sleep and take your rest, we love you, but God loves you best. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Lonnie Graves; three sisters, Geraldine Wallace, Lillie Mae Payne and Mary Louise Graves.
