BULLOCK, Mrs. Rochelle Yvonne - age 73, passed away, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 11:00AM Monday, February 29, 2016 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 318 Auburn Avenue, with funeral service commencing immediately at 12Noon. Pastor Timothy Lawrence, Officiating. Interment, Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry St Friends and Pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Monday. Mrs. Bullock will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10:00AM – 5:00 PM on Sunday. Mrs. Rochelle Yvonne Bullock passed away from cancer at the age 73, on the morning of February 20, 2016 at her home in Pontiac, Michigan. She was in hospice care and among the comfort of her family, friends and loved ones during the time of her passing. Rochelle Bullock was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was the second daughter of five children of the late Richard and Bertha Gassaway. She graduated from Meigs High School and later went on to serve in the United States Army. In the early 60s shortly after her military service, Rochelle met and married L.C. Wilson Sr. in Nashville, Tennessee and had four children from that union: Frederick, Cardial, Renee and L.C. Jr. After some time in her first marriage, Rochelle and L.C. parted ways and she raised her kids in a single household as a strong and loving mother. After moving to Pontiac, Michigan she met and later married Johnnie A. Bullock, her husband for thirty-seven years. Rochelle started her post military career as an assembly line worker at General Motors Automotive Corporation. While on a break from General Motors, Rochelle went on to get her license in Cosmetology and later started her own beauty shop. Additionally, Rochelle was a seamstress at Endless Road Sewing Company and became a Nurse’s Aide at Mercy Bell Brooke Nursing Home. She returned to General Motors, where she remained employed for twenty-five years. Rochelle decided to retire in 2006. Rochelle joined the church at a young age and attended McNairy Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. After moving to Pontiac, Michigan she joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Deaconess Board, Mission, Choir and was a dedicated Sunday School Bus Driver for several years. Rochelle’s hobbies included preforming as a Majorette while in high school and more recently she loved spending time with her computer games, puzzles boards, and electronics. Rochelle also enjoyed watching TV. Her favorite programs included Steve Harvey, reality shows and most of all, Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots.” Rochelle was a kind, loving and caring persons who always put others first. She had a deep love and devotion for all of her children and family, touching everyone she came into contact with through her special personality. Rochelle was the epitome of God’s call for us to love one another and will truly be missed by friends and family. Mrs. Bullock leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Johnnie Bullock of Pontiac, MI; children, Frederick Wilson of Avondale, AZ, Cardial (Belecia) Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, Renee (Robert) Morris of Bowie, MD, L.C. (LaTrina) Wilson of Las Vegas, NV; two step-daughters, Sharon (Larry) Keels of Flushing, MI and Robin Thompson of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Tiffany Renee Wilson of Clarkston, MI, Robyn De’Nise Morris of Kapolei, HI, Frederick Wilson Jr. Avondale, AZ, Matthew Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, Ashley Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, Asia and India Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, Tiffani Nsereko, Alexandria, VA; step grandchildren, La’Shonda Hall, Victoria, Nicholas and Candice Keels all of Flushing, MI, Olivia Harris, Zakir and Saamia Thompson both of Flint, MI, Terran Bullock of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Sydnee Morris, Norris Johnson Jr. of Kapolei, HI, Ayden Singleton of Alexandria, VA and Leilani Wilson of Avondale, AZ; three sisters, Harriett Smith of Nashville, TN, Mary (Walter) Ryans, Angelia (Roy) Curry Houston, TX; brother, John T. Gassaway of Nashville, TN; aunt, Rose Belle Mitchelle of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Debra Gassaway, Bobbie Holmes, Martha Ree Pittman, Martina Bullock; brothers-in-law, Richard (Zelma) Bullock, James Bullock, Aurthur Lee (Debra) Bullock, Glenn Bullock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including special niece, DeLashia Young; special god son, Louis “Pokey” Moore; special friend, Charlene Townsend. Mrs. Bullock was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Bertha Gassaway Sr.; brother, Richard Gassaway Jr.; son, Perry Bullock.
