Takella "Kella" Pepper

PEPPER, Ms. Takella "Kella" - age 60, passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Medilodge of Farmington Hills. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, March 18, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00 AM. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 North Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at funeral home 10:30 AM Saturday. Ms. Pepper will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday. Ms. Takella Pepper was born October 17, 1956 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of the late Preston Pepper Jr. and Laverne Pepper. Takella attended Pontiac Schools and Ross Medical Institute, where she was later employed as Medical Assistant. She also worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Environmental Services, was a Private Duty Home Aid, and the Salvation Army. Kella attended Triumph Church. She he was a fun-loving and caring mother and grandmother. Takella loved to cook, bake, dress, listen to old-school and jazz music. She also cherished her family and was affectionally known as “Kella.” She will be missed very much by her family and friends. Ms. Pepper leaves to cherish her memory: children, Michael Pepper, De’Andre Pepper and David Pepper; grandchildren, Aniyah Pepper, Daquaveon Mitchell, Justice Sing and Kayden Sing; siblings, Regina Pepper, Gary Pepper, Douglas Pepper, Carolyn Pepper, Delores “Kathy” Pepper-Fair, and Sameka Pepper; niece, Courtney Fair; nephews, Richard Pepper, Adrian Burkett, Jaylen Pepper, Preston Fair and Willie Fair Jr.; aunts, Francis Rebecca Grayer, Margrett Caldwell, and Mary Ellis Stewart; uncle, Kenneth Pepper; cousins, Shana (Sam) Caldwell-Carter, Lesley Caldwell, Frank (Belinda) Grayer and John Grayer; dear friend, Nathan Macklin ; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Pepper was preceded in death by her parents, Preston Pepper Jr. and Laverne Pepper; grandparents, Preston Pepper Sr., Mary Pepper, Oscar Johnson Sr. and Jessie Bell “Mutha” Johnson; uncle, Oscar “Brutha” Johnson Jr.; and cousin, Calvin “Chief” Grayer.
