STEWART, Mr. Toney - Age 56, passed away, Monday, May 6, 2013 at McLaren Hospital Oakland. Family Hour 10:30AM Monday, May 13, 2013 at New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church,124 Prospect Street with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor William Parker, officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, 216 University Drive. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Stewart will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10:00AM-5:00PM Sunday. Mr. Toney Stewart was born February 17, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, to the union of Roselee Walls and Freddie Stewart, Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age. He worked as a Gas Station Attendant/Manager until his illness. Toney was a very loving and giving man. He loved his family and was a very devoted friend. He loved music and loved to dance. He also loved dogs, cats, fish and birds. As a kid, Toney loved pigeons and several became his bird friends. He would stand in the backyard, extend his arm, do some kind of pigeon talk and those pigeons would land on his arm and he would feed them. Toney would give you his shirt off his back and would give you his last dollar. He would often fry up a lot of chicken and boil several dozens of eggs (both were two of his favorite foods) and take it to the homeless people in downtown Pontiac. Most of all, he enjoyed cooking and inviting family and friends to his home and he wanted everyone to eat, drink and by merry. Toney married Janet Bush in 1983. The memories of Toney will remain in the hearts of his family: children, Sherry Stewart, Nora Stewart, Christopher Bush and Anessiah Bush; grandchildren, Omarion Stewart, Marquis, Kalimah and Amier Bush; parents, Roselee (Joseph) Walls and Freddie Stewart, Sr; siblings, Belinda (Frank) Grayer, Janice Stewart, Connie (Julius) Stovall, Joyce Christian, Janeen Stewart, Freddie (Nicole) Stewart,Jr-Bey, Brian Stringfield and Kevin Stewart; special loving aunt, Ruth Taylor; step-brothers, Joseph Walls, Jr. and Dale Walls and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Stewart; step-mother, Floretta Stewart and step-sister, Daphne Walls-Cato.
