Walker Andrew Yeargin III

YEARGIN, Mr. Walker Andrew "Andy" III - Age 83, passed away Sunday March 8, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 11:00AMThursday, March 19, 2015 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 394 Howland Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:30AM. Pastor Solomon Smith, Sr., Officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Thursday. Mr. Yeargin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1:00PM- 8:00 PM Wednesday. Mr. Walker Andrew “Andy” Yeargin III was born March 12, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Walker Andrew Yeargin II and Naomi Byrd-Yeargin. Mr. Walker Andrew Yeargin III was the fourth child born to the late Walter Andrew Yeargin II and Naomi Bryd-Yeargin. He attended Pontiac Schools at Bagley and Eastern Junior High School. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in 1940, under the leadership of the late Pastor T. Walter Harris. Mr. Yeargin was employed at Pontiac Motors in the late 1940’s. Then went to the Army and was in the Korean War. Finally returned back to Pontiac Motors and retired in 1980. He married the late Betty Jean Davenport in 1956 and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Andrea Jean Yeargin. Mr. Yeargin loved helping everyone. He didn’t meet any strangers and loved too travel. Mr. Yeargin leaves to cherish his memory: Andrea Jean Yeargin; grandchildren, Takisha (Curtis) Yeargin-Palmer, Ronnie Moncrief and Jada Yeargin all of Pontiac, MI; great grandchildren, Ronisha and Ronitra Jackson, RoN’Niqua, Ron’Ne, Ronnie Moncrief III; great great grandchildren, King Howze and Nyomi Taylor; three sisters, Evelyn (Samuel) Threets of Southfield, MI, Martha Smith Sr. and Alice Manning-Moore all of Pontiac, MI; brother, James W. Yeargin of Pontiac, MI; sister-in-law, Patricia Davenport; and a host of other relatives and friends including special niece, Regina Yeargin-Middlebrooks; god daughter, Vicki (Steven) Samples-Williams. Mr. Yeargin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Yeargin; parents, Walker Andrew (Naomi) Yeargin II; sister, Josephine Blanton; brother, Melvin Byrd; sister-in-law, Geraldine Davenport; brothers-in-law, John Smith, Robert “Chester” E. Moore and Cecil Davenport.
