REID, WILLIE B. "Pee Wee" "Fess" - Age 78, passed away Friday September 9, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Family hour 12:00 Noon Friday September 16, 2011 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 174 Branch St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 1PM. Pastor Keyon S. Payton, officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, 216 University Drive. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at church at 12:00Noon Friday. Mr. Reid will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. I, Willie Bernard Reid was called home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Pontiac, MI. I was born September 26, 1932 to the late Rivers and Pecola Brown Reid in Roba, Alabama. I confessed and accepted Christ as my Savior at an early age at the Brown Grove Baptist Church in Hurtsboro, Alabama. I received my education from Russell County School System in the state of Alabama. I came to Pontiac in 1955, where I began working at General Motors, and later on at McDonald Corporation where I retired from in 2002. I was also known to most people in Pontiac for my unique barrel grills that I enjoy making. During this time I became a Faithful member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Amos G. Johnson and now Rev. Keyon S. Payton until my health began to fail me. I met and married the love of my life, my friend and wife of 58 years, Clara Bell Samuel-Reid on November 1, 1954 in Hurtsboro, Alabama. We raised twelve children. I, leave to cherish my memory: my wife, Clara B. Reid; three daughters, Bertha B. Reid, Rosemary Blue, Mary Ann Clayton; five sons, Allen Reid, Timothy Reid, Steven Reid, Ulysess "Mick" (Delicia) Reid, and Shawn Reid all of Pontiac, MI; twenty eight grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; I had four sons that preceded me in death, Harry "Skip" Reid, Ronnie Reid, Rivers "Bailey" Reid and Michael "Big Mike" Reid. I loved my family. I had a giving heart, but I believed waste not, want not. While I went out daily to provide for our family, my wife Clara ensured we had a home that was a man’s castle and our children’s haven. I also leave to cherish my memories of many many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Keyon S. Payton and New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home for opening their doors for my husband, my dad and my grandad.
