JACKSON-LEWIS, Ms. Youlanda Marie "Nanny" "Yo"- age 52, passed away Saturday March 4, 2017 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 11, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00 AM. Pastor Llewellyn Jones, Officiating. Family and Friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Lewis . will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00PM Friday. Mrs. Youlanda Marie Jackson-Lewis a.k.a. "Nanny" or "Yo" was born on November 29, 1964 in Pontiac, Michigan. The eldest of Earl and Mary Jackson four children. She departed this life on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Youlanda was outspoken, great sense of humor, good listener, and all around go getter. Her favorite line was always "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." She worked hard and dedicated her life to God and her children. No she wasn't a member of a church, but she believed in God and his many of works. She visited Lake Street Baptist Church and First Church of Worship and Faith. Youlanda married Freddie Lewis Sr. on December 10, 1988 and from this union two children were born Omni J. Lewis and Freddie J. "Buck" Lewis II. She was forced into early retirement from her job as front desk clerk for 25 years, due to being diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive colon cancer and liver cancer on March 25, 2016. She fought a good fight... Youlanda in her earlier years loved doing puzzles, spending time with her kids, and when she had her first grand child Gabrielle Y. Lewis spending time with her. Youlanda loved her. She liked fishing with her family. She leaves behind the cherish memories of her daughter Omni Lewis, of Pontiac, MI; son, Freddie "Buck" Lewis ll, of Pontiac, MI; special step children, Tanganika Glenn, of Pontiac, MI and Thomas Brown lll, of Montgomery, Ala. Youlanda also has one very special granddaughter Gabrielle Y. Lewis. That she loves so much. sisters, Tywanna (Harvey) Wheeler and Dedri Jackson both of Pontiac, MI; special nieces and nephews; Marquise Jackson, Earl Jackson, Dominike Jackson, Brittney Perkins, De'Airra Brown and Mercedes Smith all of Pontiac, MI and special friend, Andre Kirkland, of Flint, Mich. Youlanda was preceded in death by her brother Anthony "Anky" Jackson and great grandmother, Catherine "Big Mama" Taylor.
