JOHNSON, Mrs. Dorothy Jean – age 84, passed away, Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Ascension Providence – Rochester. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, May 7, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry Street, with funeral commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Senior Pastor Gregory Heathman, Officiating. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, 31472 Michigan Avenue. Friends and Pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Thursday. Mrs Dorothy Jean Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from Noon - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Dorothy Jean Johnson was born to Irene and Napoleon Briggs on May 31, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee. Dorothy received Christ at Conegee Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Jennings at a very young age. As a young woman, Dorothy enjoyed serving and worked as a waitress for many years before she decided to relocate to Detroit, Michigan. After Dorothy moved to Detroit, she met and married George Johnson on March 10, 1957. Later, Dorothy decided to pursue a career in cosmetology and became an awesome beautician. She was well known for her press and curls. In Dorothy’s latter years, she developed more of a love for the word of God. She believed in giving the Lord praise. Dorothy later joined Haven of Rest Church of God in Christ where R. K. Benson was the pastor. Many years went by and Dorothy moved to Pontiac, Michigan where she became a member of Anointed Word Ministries under the leadership of her son-in-law Pastor Gregory T. Heathman. Dorothy’s fun and humorous personality will be dearly missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband George Johnson, son Aldra Johnson, brothers Napoleon Briggs Jr., Willie Briggs and Earnest Briggs and sister Almetia Williams She leaves to mourn her sister Pauline Walls, children Dr. Patricia Heathman (Gregory), Lucinda Jarrell (Leonard), Lawrence Johnson and Jacqueline Johnson. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. At Lawrence E. The Executive Order is as follows: Acting under the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and Michigan law, I order the following: 1. Beginning on April 10, 2020 at 9:00 am, and continuing through May 28, 2020 at 5:00 pm, all assemblages of more than 10 people in a single indoor shared space and all events of more than 10 people are prohibited in this state. A single indoor shared space includes but is not limited to a room, hall, cafeteria, auditorium, theater, or gallery.
