NORTHERN, Mr. James Edward "Hobear" I - 63, passed away Friday November 20, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Johnson Memorial Church of God In Christ, 252 Wessen Street, with funeral service commencing immediately at 10:30 AM. Elder Courtney Drew, Officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Northern will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1:00PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mr. James Edward Northern I was born June 5, 1952 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Ciscero and Dolly Northern. James was affectionately known as “Hobear” and a resident of Pontiac, Michigan. He was a member of Johnson Memorial Church of God In Christ. He was educated in the Pontiac School District and a graduate of Pontiac Central High School. James enjoyed helping others and praying for his family and friends. His passion was cooking especially Bar-BQ where he earned the nickname “Boss Sauce” given this nickname for his famous Bar-BQ sauce. James was also known for his nickname of “Flames” for various reasons LOL. He truly enjoyed his Cadillac’s, Borsalino Hats, Cowboys Boots and Leather Pants. He was also a “ladies man,” he had a special way with the ladies. James truly loved his family (children and grandchildren) and had an enduring relationship with his mother, Dolly Northern. Mr. Northern leaves to cherish his memory: children, Cande Mitchell, Brande (Omott) Moreau, Mary Munson, Katherina Foster, James Northern II and Andre Clark; step-children, Marlo Robinson, Carmen Robinson, Ronnetra Robinson, Chuckie Robinson and Steven Bard, Sr; grandchildren, Anthony, Shawntarrica, Sacoya, Nathaniel Jr., Myracle, E’nyla, D’Mari, Na’Dia, Tylin, Jordan, Leon and Kamari; great-grandchild, Armoni Shealy; sisters, Dolly (June) Foster and Valerie (Marvin) Williams; brothers, George (Joyce) Northern, Tommy Lee Northern, Michael Northern, Markie and Willie Northern; and a host of nieces, nephews other numerous relatives and friends including special friend, Mary Pryor; best friends, Shepard Taurus and Steve Hall. Mr. Northern was preceded in death by his parents, Dolly and Cisero Northern; and brothers, David Northern and Jerry Northern. The family wishes to express special thanks to Linda Hannah, Mary Pryor, Bo Jamison, Melvin Daniel and Shepard Taurus.
