WIMS, Mrs. Betty Jane "Aunt Betty" - age 82, passed away, Monday, June 10, 2013 at Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, June 17, 2013 at St. Damien of Molokai Parish at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 46408 Woodward Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Father James Kean, Officiating. Interment Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery, 727 Orchard Lake Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mrs. Wims will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 10:00AM-3:00PM Sunday. As the sun rose in Marksville, Louisiana, on November 30, 1930, Louie and Rosa Belle Morris-Castile were blessed with a loving daughter, their eleventh child, Betty Jane Castile. At the age of 2, the family moved to Crowley, Louisiana. There she attended St. Theresa’s Catholic Elementary School, and in 1948, graduated from Crowley Industrial High School. She moved to Pontiac in 1953, and later worked for General Motors until her retirement. Affectionately known to many as “Aunt Betty” because of her humanitarian , mentoring spirit, her love of family, and zest for life. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She volunteered her time and energy for various church functions, and was always available to those in need. Her husband, Robert Huel Wims, preceded her in death on June 21, 1997. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Percy, Willie, Ernest, Floyd, Milton, Clarence and Holland Castile; sisters, Myrle Herbert, Aline, Anna Belle Castile; nephew, Richard Bonton. She leaves to cherish her memory: nephews, Percy Young, Ronald, Lonnie, Orlando, Floyd Jr. and Ira Castile, Bob Moultry; great nephew, Gregory Bonton; nieces, Savannah Dominique, Jonquil Terry, Antoinette Kurney, Dionne Green, Lisa Douglas, LaTisha Eggleston, Ladon Moore, Tiantra Townsend and Janice Johnson; cousins, Catherine Cummings, Karen Price, Beverly Pointer, Ruth Hamilton, Olivia Cormier and Byron David; best friends, Jane Love, Cleta Jones, Geraldine Shurn and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver Court 303.
