Mother Carrie Ennis

ENNIS, Mother Carrie - age 89, passed away, Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Medilodge of Rochester Hills. Family hour 11:30am Friday February 5, 2016 at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, 143 Oneida St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 12noon. Pastor Douglas P. Jones, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30am Friday. Mrs. Ennis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1-8pm Thursday. In loving memory of a loyal woman Jesus said “After many days of being strong, where I am there you shall be” and being true to his word he called Mother Carrie Ennis his devoted daughter to be home with him for eternity. Mother Ennis was eighty-nine years old. She was born in St. Francisville, Louisiana on January 11, 1927 to the union of the late Major and Rosalee Rayford, being the youngest of eight children. She departed this life on January 24, 2016. She was the wife of the late L.C. Ennis Sr. for forty-two years, and to this union five children were born. Being a committed wife and mother, she became a homemaker. Mother Ennis was resident of Pontiac, Michigan and a member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking (Jelly Cakes), traveling and ensuring that others were happy. Mother Ennis leaves to cherish her memory: one dedicated daughter, Cheryl Ennis-Jamerson of Pontiac, MI; five grandchildren, Donald Vining of Stockton, CA, Al-Lisia Jackson of Pontiac, MI, Albert Jamerson of Pontiac, MI, Alonzo Powell of Columbia, TN and Tameka Jamerson of Pontiac, MI; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Louise Bee of Baton Rouge, LA and Florence Jones of Pontiac, MI; two special nieces, Nancy Haynes and Joyce Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mother Ennis was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Ennis Sr.; sons, L.C. Ennis Jr., Donald Ennis, Albert Ennis and Alonzo Ennis; parents, Major and Rosalee Rayford; four sisters, Nellie Mackie, Sarah Myers, Mattie Rayford and Lenora Harris; brother, Bennett Rayford Sr.; son-in-law, James Jamerson.
