Douglas Brooks,

BROOKS, Mr. Douglas Jr. departed this life Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. He was the son of Douglas Sr., and the late Dorothy Brooks. Mr. Brooks leaves to cherish his memory: six children, Douglas Christopher, Dallas, Richard Robinson, Detra Shipp, Rekeya Robinson, LaTrena Smith; father, Douglas Sr.; seven grandchildren; one special grandson, DeQuante "MoMo" Thomas; three brothers, Roger, Howard, David (Wendy); sister, Joyce; and a host of nieces and nephews; Family hour 10:30a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11a.m. Bishop Freddy Jones, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30a.m. Saturday. Mr. Brooks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8p.m. Friday. Mr. Douglas Brooks Jr. was born August 21, 1955 to Douglas Brooks Sr. and the late Dorothy Brooks. He was the oldest son of six children. The Lord called him home December 14, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, after a period of illness. Doug was a family man, who was always there when you needed him. If there was a family gathering or something going on you were sure to see him there. Doug was a devoted husband, until the passing of his wife, Sharon. He loved spending time with his family, laughing and having fun. He was known for his style of dress, and he was always well kept when you saw him. Doug loved to go fishing and gamble. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Robinson-Brooks; mother, Dorothy Reed-Brooks; brother, Maverick Brooks.
