OTT, Mr. Ernest Winslow - Age 46, passed Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital - Oakland. Funeral service 11:00a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008 at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, 143 Oneida St., Pastor Douglas P. Jones, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00a.m. Monday. Mr. Ott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 2-6p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008 and 10am to 6pm Sunday, February 3, 2008. Ernest Winslow Ott was born on June 5, 1961 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the fourth son born to Ruth and Ernest Ott. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Ernie attended Pontiac Public Schools and graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1979. Following high school, Ernie attended Eastern Michigan University where he was initiated in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. Ernie was employed with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department for twenty three years. In his last position, he served as a Sergeant at the Frank Greenan Building. As an avid sports fan, Ernie enjoyed playing and watching baseball and basketball, He also enjoyed teaching and coaching his daughters and son in basketball and football. He served as a coach with the Waterford Waves and Pontiac Lady Panthers basketball teams. When he wasn't participating in sports, he spent time watching ESPN and his favorite soap operas. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory: his mother, Ruth Ott; two daughters, Erica and Ariette Ott; fiance, Dorothy Hall; three brothers, Darryl (Karen) of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Marc (Pamela) of Fort Worth, Texas and Eric (Vicki) of Novi, Michigan; three nieces, Taylor, Carly and Olivia; 2 nephews, Anthony and Gabriel; 4 aunts, Magnolia Harris, Lillian Whiters, Blanch McClellan, and Margaret Mullin; 3 Uncles, Herbert, Calvin and Bruce Mullin; sister-in-law, Brenda McConner; step-children, Keone Scaife, Cameren Hall and Devin Burnett; grandson, Keone Scaife, Jr; special family, The Edwards; and a host of loving cousins, relatives, co-workers and friends. Ernie was preceded in death by his father Ernest Ott and brother Larry McConner.
