TATES, Mrs. Georgia - Age 86, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015 at Clarkston Specialty Healthcare Center. Family hour 10:00AM Wednesday July 8, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00am. Rev. Russell Hoover, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Wednesday. Mrs. Tates will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 8AM-11AM Wednesday. Mrs. Georgia Mae Tates was born March 1, 1929 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of LuBreatha West. Georgia being a widow raised her four children along with her three grandchildren, inspite of being a single mother. Georgia was able to complete college here in Michigan after leaving Louisiana. She moved to Pontiac, Michigan and made the Lakeside Homes aka “Jets” home, while living there she was the Matriarch that earned her a great deal of respect. While in Michigan, She became employed as a Teacher in the Pontiac School District and remained with the City of Pontic for numerous years. Georgia loved to have fun, always hosting parties or going to one, people loved having her around. In her later years, she didn’t party as often, but loved having people around her while she cracked jokes. She enjoyed cooking it was her passion she would always say “If I can’t do nothing for you, I could at least feed you.” Everybody knew you could get a plate at Ms. Tates house. She loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and had nicknames for them all. Georgia enjoyed watching game shows it was one of her favorite past times, but what she loved most of all was her family! Ms. Tates leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Kenneth (Linda) Tates and Johnathan (Acil) Tates; grandchildren, Terry and Russell Hoover, Will Tyrone Dixon and Teonna Black; great grandchildren, Darrell and Wendy Dixon, Carmesha Stovall, Raymon and Faith Dixon, Kenya Campbell, Keonte Stovall, Tecreshia Hoover, Eboni Tates, Rose Marie Hoover and Lonnie Adams Jr.; great great grandchildren, D’Arius Dixon, E.D.I. Roberts, Xavier Dixon, Kemari Williams, Darrell Dixon Jr., Khirye Tyler, Ke’Myiah Coats, Le’Shawn Coats, Lyric D. Dixon, Kennedy Thomas, Addam Tyler, Baby Adams, Gabrielle Hoover and LaCresha Adams; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Christine Walker, Gayle “Pee Wee Stovall, and many more. Ms. Tates was preceded in death by her daughters, Rose Marie Dixon and Bertha Adams; mother, LuBreatha West; grandson, Lonnie Adams Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to all the friends and their family for their support during this time and for your loving support in the future.
