Johnetta Rollins

ROLLINS, Ms. Johnetta "Nettie" age 57, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Michigan Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Jerry Love, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Ms. Rollins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Ms. Johnetta Rollins effectionately know as “Nettie” was born on January 5, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late John Rollins Sr. and the late Gussie Rollins-Taylor. She lost her courageous battle on July 24, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Nettie accepted Christ at an early age at Medlyne Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. She moved to Pontiac, Michigan at an early age where she joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church; as her faith grew she moved on to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she was actively serving in the Nurse, Bus, Trustee, Wedding, and Beautification Ministries until her transformation. Nettie attended Pontiac Schools and graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1973. She then went on to further her education by attending college for a year picking up classes here and there. She was employed by St. Joseph Mercy Oakland for twenty-eight years and has worked in numerous jobs and departments. Her final job was Financial Counselor in the Admitting Department. Nettie was a people person and loved helping others, her family and friends. Although, she never married or had children she had many children whom life she has impacted. She enjoyed making silk floral arrangements for weddings and gifts. She also enjoyed decorating, reading and watching television. Most of all she enjoyed praising the Lord. Ms. Rollins leaves to cherish her memory: siblings, Mary (Robert) Bennett, Dorothy Rollins, John (Thomassine) Rollins, Rose M. (the late Freddie) Jackson, Blanche (Rickie) Harris, Audrey (Charles) Gamble, Anthony Taylor, Lisa Renee Taylor, Zula Rollins, Mixon Taylor Jr., Margarettte (Lonnie) Williams, Ethel Webster, Eddie Taylor; step-father, Mixon Taylor Sr; special aunt, Dorothy Harris; special nieces and nephews, Brenda Thomas, Treasa Thomas, Shannon Jackson, Sharika Lance, Tamika Lance, Barbara Tremble and Karlondra Ellsworth, Felicia Lance, Kiara, Kayla, Kylee, Patrice, Gerrod Green, J. Karlton Jackson, Erik Stubbs; and host of great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends. Ms. Rollins was preceded in death by her nieces, Nikki Lance and Kimberly Green-Rollins.
