Robert "Crouch" McCants

MCCANTS, Mr. Robert "Crouch"- Age 67, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at McLaren Hospital Oakland. Family Hour 10:30AM Monday March 25, 2013 from the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM. Pastor Jerry Love, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Mr. McCants will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 11AM-5PM Sunday. Mr. Robert “Crouch” McCants was the patriarch of the McCants family. Everyone knew and loved Robert. Robert entered this life on September 12, 1945, born to Robert Boyd and Annie Bell McCants in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He made his transistion to glory after a brief illness on March 15, 2013. Robert joined Macedonia Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. Lenworth R. Miner Sr. at an early age. He was a star player on the church basketball team and earned his nickname “Crouch” by his unique style of crouching down to score yet another basket for his team. Robert graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1964. Upon graduation, he was immediately employed by Pontiac Motors Company, and later retiring from the Oakland County Drain Commission with twenty-eight years of service. Robert truly enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to read, listen to music, solve word search puzzles, watch old cowboy movies, and cruise around town in his cadillac searching for sweets. Mr. McCants leaves to cherish his memory and legacy children, Stasha, Gelonda, Trimetria, April, Eric, Vincent (Serretha), Dominic (Debra), DeWayne, Arnold and Kenyon; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; stepmother, Ruth; siblings, Sandra (Alphonso), Janie (Arthur), Cynthia (Duncan), Barbara Ann (James), Larry, Victor and Maurice (Laural); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Robert will be missed by his loving family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mr. McCants was preceded in death by his son, Deric McCants; parents, Annie Bell McCants and Robert Boyd; sister, Wanda Bland; grandparents, Odell Moten and Joseph McCants.
