DICKERSON, Mrs. Sarah - Age 85, passed away Monday June 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday July 5, 2014 at Greater Sharing Cross Apostolic Church, 96 Williams St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Bishop Freddy Jones, officiating. Interment Perry Mount Park Cemetery, 878 N. Perry St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mrs. Dickerson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St., and may be viewed from 8AM-4PM Friday. Mother Sarah “Granny” Dickerson was born on November 23, 1928 in Polk, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Maude Telley. She went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2014. Granny received her education from Senatobia, Mississippi. She moved to Pontiac, Michigan where she met Harry Dickerson. They were united in Holy Matrimony on April 3, 1964. She worked and retired from the State of Michigan. Granny loved to be in the kitchen, always cooking and baking. She enjoyed playing cards or doing her puzzle book. She loved watching wrestling, baseball, fishing, shopping and traveling. Every Sunday morning at nine she was watching “Bobby Jones Gospel,” you would find her talking about the “Good Ole Days.” Granny loved church. She made history in becoming the first Mother of Gospel Temple on October 20, 2014. She was baptized in Jesus name on February 23, 2014. Under the leadership of Pastor Akinyemi Brown. Granny leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Martha Boyce, Wavie (Joseph) Dolo of Pontiac, MI, Roberta Rhinehart of Waterford, MI, Alberta Jackson of Memphis, TN, Earmond Amerson of Senatobia, MS; one step son, Harry Dickerson Jr. of Pontiac, MI; thirty four grandchildren; sixty great grandchildren; nineteen great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild; one very special great granddaughter, DeMira Dixson; one special sister, Earmond Towns; one sister-in-law, Eva Mae Butler; two brothers-in-law, Oliver (Rose) Dickerson and Bo Dickerson. Granny was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dickerson Sr.; three daughters, Georgia Wooten, Florence Dixson and Maude Eva Telley three sons, George and Harmond Wooten and Willie Dixon; parents, Jim and Maude Telley; sister, Mary Bell Pittman. The family would like to express special thanks to Elton Littles, Kaniesha McDaniel, David and Wendy Brooks and Harry Dixson for their faithful dedication, love and support.
